the new model Jetta starts around $180k, VW parts are a lil pricey, the older models where made in Mexico, and those gave some trouble, i not to sure where this new model is assembled, so find out that first, if its from Germany, then u good to go,

The old PFI 1.8T is discontinued in favour of a new 1.8T Di engine.

price i got from the agent the other day is 186 k for the automatic 1.6 jetta.....the 2.0 is 230k

they are not bringing the manuals, but they are available upon special order.....but the management strongly advises against it since they will not stock parts for the M/T models

besides....the 6 speed auto pullin sweeettt....cept for that e-throttle lag Laughing

the passat coming with the new 1.8 TSI engine in March
(turbo-supercharged) good foe 160 Hp
Thinkink about it but fraid after the warranty period is up.
parts will be expensive.
and probably no resale value
being a previous bora owner I am wary of Vdubs in Trinidad
but the car is sweet

Well for starters in the MK4 the 2.0 had only 115hp compare that to the 1.6 which had 105hp hmmm big difference eh Rolling Eyes .....secondly the weight of the MK4 was well over 3000lbs. So trust me u aint goin no where in a hurry.
The Mk5 now also has a new 2.0 howver the hp has been bumped up to 150hp which still is by no means gonna be pushing a +3000lb car in a hurry. So to pay 240K for a car with only 150hp makes no sense especially for a VW. I'm a huge Vdub fan but would never shell out the dough for a car like that.

^^^^ they are good tuners however u would hardly see someone wasting there time to mod a 1.6 or a 2.0 MK4 same goes with the 2.0MK5, why cause it jus does not make any sense.
Most people would choose the 1.8T, the 2.0T or the 2.8VR6, 3.2VR6 which is in the R32. I have both the 1.8t and a VR6 and i love them except for all the minor troubles that i get other than that it couldnt be better. And aftermarket support is really easy to come by.

I have notice 1.6 euros are not really performance minded cars but family cars with just enough punch to take the family or couple to their destination...The 1.8T is a beast from what i have seen and the VR6..

Not startified in normal running. Startified approach used for cold starting and lighting up the catalyst ( last around 40-60secs), which in turn reduces emission numbers during drive cylces. Its a new 1.8 DISI (Direct Injection Spark Ignition) turbo motor. The old 1.8T PFI (Port Fuel Injection),though a good powerplant, could not meet Stage 4/5 emissions without sacrifising character and drive feel. So it was canned and replaced by the 160ps 1.8 TFSI unit.
I am sometimes astonished by the way ppl rate a vehicle package on here especially the base entry level models. Really, is straight line performance the only desirable attribute people buy a car on...sigh...
