Question for all experienced and professional box builders.

I currently got one rf p2 12 (see pic). The box was made so that it fits in the "narrow" section of the trunk(civic) so that the "wider" part can be used to put "my sh!t".

I am thinking of putting another 12. For the two 12s to sound exceptional could the box be similar to the one I currently have, where it fits in the narrow section of the trunk?

Thanks.
PS. not flash band you're seeing there that's Second Skin took me and pops hours to do..lol

if u simply doubling up on subs then obviously d amt of space occupied will be doubled as well

what u can do instead of using 2 subs is use a single sub which is a higher series like P3 or T1 ...

No I'm suggesting with a sealed enclosure you could fit another 12 and still supply enough space for your sheit.

It won't be as loud as 2-12's ported but it'll be louder and a little more accurate than 1-12 ported.

Just saying na.

or 2 in a ported box twice the size of the present

People underestimate the output of a well built sealed enclosure.

however, the cons of that are:

1) higher series sub - bigger amp (and maybe upgrade electrical)
2) sealed box - basically the same output as 1 ported
(however, the bassline will be more accurate and more musically pleasing)
3) twice the size - no more room for your stuff.

if you want to list out the specs of your system like the amp that you are using then that would be great. also the volume of the box (dimensions) and also the shape (if it follows the slant at the back of the seat). depending on the car and box design this can increase the box volume by as much as .75 cubic sometimes.

if that box is not slanted i'd say that you can fit the 2 in a common chamber with the resulting box being visually 1/2 as big (when ALL dimensions are adjusted)

I had a similar setup before, a single RF P2 in a narrow box for my Civic.. bass was barely adequate for my needs. i would definitely go for the single high powered sub option, you will get the performance you are looking for, as well as keep the size AND weight of your enclosure down..

there is a way to get the performance of the one sub, but you will not have a trunk

eh heh? but we ALL know what it takes to "fulfill" YOUR needs....

cough......*double 15*......cough

anyway, as they saying, ONCE your amp is capable go for a "higher rated" single 12" (will save on space weight and gas)

you have many options just to decide which to choose from[/b]

basically everybody telling u d same thing i saying : use a more powerful single sub

i have typed this a few times b4 : i replaced 4 10" pioneers with a single 12" dd9500 in my car back in 2007 , how do i know its about d same loudness ? ; had it metered which proved it

if u want my opinion - replace it with a 12" alpine type R - imo is better than a RF P3 ...

would two 10" in a ported box fit the space and give the increased performance he is looking for?

I heard Rovin's two 10" re se (sealed) and they were louder and more accurate than my one 12" RF P3 ported

His box was bigger though.

I imagine with two Type Rs sealed or even ported though you may be able to save space and get the output you want

maybe d long shape ^ made it appear bigger but it shud be about about d same amt of space occupied

iirc d theory : ported over seal yield about double output\"loudness" so if u use 2 of d same subs in sealed ur going to be using double power but it will sound to ur ears about d same loudness

however sealed boxes have a more smoother overall response so it all depends on what u want & how much power u want to use ...

actually I have my type-r in a sealed box first before building the ported enclosure. whatever you couldn't hear you sure felt!

nothing wrong with him using two woofers in a sealed enclosure.

One quick question. If you plan on getting an additional sub, how did you plan to power it with out upgrading the amplification to your bassline?

My amp is a RF Punch 500.1bd with the specs:

200W x 1 @ 4-Ohms RMS
400W x 1 @ 2-Ohms RMS
500W x 1 @ 1-Ohm RMS
100A fuse rating

Can this push a RF P3 12 or a Alpine Type R?
