outweigh the cost in putting in the sr18 or 20 and you will know
if you goin for speed the sr will be better since the qg, if i remember correctly is a more economy engine..not so?
and upgrade parts are easier for the sR |

| both the qg and the sr are abundant with aftermarket parts such as turbos etc... and it cannot be said that the qg is economical cuz in my opinion both sr and qg has its strengths and weaknesses.what i would like to know is which one is better for an everyday driven bullet?must be calm and barks when called upon |

As a owner of a QG18DE..i will support it..
The QG is very fuel efficient and has alot of pep for a conservative engine. It had N-VCT if I not mistaken..which is like VTEC. If you goin manual, wen drivin normal an doin 80 on d highway..wen u reach 80 an shift into 5th..d car will start tuh hold back ah bit..an den shoot off..daz wen d valves shift over..it bess..also happens wen u maxin yuh shifts..u does geh d lil lift at arong 6000 rmp till u shift..u will be givin up alot of horses wen compared tuh d SR..buh u hadda check d long run..d modds needed tuh fit d SR..d gas it will consume..etc..hope i helped..

Padna, QG18DE has no similarity to VTEC.
it uses VTC (variable valve timing and control).....so don't be fooled, you need to read your research carefully before giving tuners wrong info.
No hard feelings eh, don't need to bite back. BLESS |

| trinidrift, its best u put in SR18 or a SR20 instead. If you are going to put in the QG18 you will need to get the rotors, disc pad etc for the QG18DE. Remember that the B14 uses smaller rotors and different disc pads than that of the B15 or N16 cars which came with the QG series. |

Nissan QG15DE, maybe VTEC was not such a good choice of wording. However, I don't believe it is my imagination when I'm driving an I feel the difference. My apologies for any misleading I have perpetrated. No hard feelings dude. We all here to learn. |

So if it is he puts in the SR..would he not need the corresponding rotors from that as well? Or is he supposed to leave it stock @ what, 7"?
I just asking.. |

OK zee ok zee, you have me there. You made an un arguementative point there pal, good one. But in my words it dont make sense putting newer engines in older model cars. (IN MY WORDS EH).
And i am going to do a QG18DE-T project...i wanted to be the first in T&T but heck i'll support it and we could even start up our own little crew trinidrift, and i will be representing all QG Owners. |

If its fuel economy you want... then go QG. But if its power... the SR is the weapon of choice. You can be one of the few to go SR VVL (which is different to the VVT found in the QG).
And well... turbo is an option.
With respect to changing the rotors if (you bounce your head and) go QG, they dont need to be changed, its just the outer velocity joint that may have to change to mate up with the B14 spindle.
The QG/B14 project may be a first and cause some OOHHS and AAHHS when your bonnet is raised, but when the novelty wears off and you meet up an SR and it wash you... you will start to think different.
The economy on my SR was very managable, just keep it properly tuned, and you on.
I heard enough horror stories about the million sensors present in the QG, it seems that the more Nissan tries to make things easy... they end up making it harder for the people who repair it.
Old Model Highport SR20DE FTW! |

| trinidrift, be sure to port and polish the internals of the QG18, it will give better performance. Shaving the gasket head or putting thinner gaskets will increase compression but u want turbo so this doesn't mix. |
