| could a QG18 direct injected engine be converted to fuel injected if so what do i need to get and would the same brain be used . reason for this is that i want to put on a cng kit and it cannot work on direct injection only fuel injected |

I think someone asked this similar question on tuner concerning brain and parts of a QG18DD and a QG18DE. they use different brain and some parts of the engine are different. (meaning- some parts are not interchangeable on the diesel and gas QG).
And it is easier to switch gas to diesel than diesel to gas (much difficult). Someone on tuner has the information u need, i can't remember who...anyone willing to help out? |

the compression ratios on a diesel and gas engine are very different ^^
the QGDD he refering to is'nt diesel. it is gas direct injection (doh kill me if ah wrong)
in that case the compression would be different again to the normal QG. |

the engine i am enquiring about is a gas engine direct injection and not diesel.
the QG18 engines come gas fuel injected or gas directed injected |

Hi all,
I'm new bie here, i own a nissan mitsuoka ryoga with qg18dd two months ago, just recently find out the car is lack of power especially from 0-40km and high fuel consumption, i.e full tank petrol only can clock 320km after the warning light up. i still remember before that full tank (normally i fill up 45 liters after a fuel light comes up)can clocked 450km. Is that any wear & tear parts have to replace ?
Any solution can overcome this problem?
Thank in advance for your all advise.

both is fuel injected chief just different methods of injection. DE is multi port FI and the DD is direct FI.
i'm guessin that the heads and intake manifolds would be different in both cases. not to mention the ECUs and i think (THINK not know) the DD requires a higher fuel pressure to facilitate the direct injection so the fuel delivery system might be different as well.
Cant say if a conversion can be done but it looks like it may be tough. |

| Strugglerzinc, you are correct. GDI (DD) is higher pressure, sometimes as high as diesel fuel line pressure in CFR. therefore the delivery system will more likely than not be different. |

Full service with TB and injector cleaning would be a good starting point.
MAF and O2 sensors may have to be looked at in worst case scenario. |

Jeezzzzz......
QG18 DIESEL???? !! It's Gasoline Direct Injection.

It's very difficult to convert. For starters, the fuel systems are RADICALLY different. The QG18DD's fuel pump puts out 10 X more pressure than a standard fuel pump (or so my mech tells me) as the injectors are injecting fuel DIRECTLY into the combustion chamber. The pumps themselves are also not physically interchangeable. Also, IIRC, the compression ratios are different, and the heads are different. The throttle bodies are also different (the QG18DD has some kinda "dual entry" per cylinder kinda business going on there , and the QG18DD also has DBW (E-throttle - no accelerator cable), whereas the standard QG18DE (older ones) are cable -throttle.
Changing that engine to CNG is ludicrous (can't believe people still use CNG!!!).
You're better off swapping to a standard QG18DE and doing your CNG conversion.
But honestly....yuh kinda moving backwards with the technology there eh......... |

Strugglerzinc,
Thanks for your prompt reply, are the TB and injector part need to be clean regulary? actually what is the life span for MAF and O2 sensor? i found out from 0km to 40km the car running reponse not very smooth then felt that engine perform quite heavy and a bit of jerking during acceleration. how to slove the above symptom? |

| check your engine/ transmission mounts. Once bad you will get jerks especially when gears change or u jump off the gas pedal when car is building up and u mash brakes. |

Gear oil - what tranny do you have? Model year of car? If it's a 99-01 car w/ CVT, you should prob. be using NS-1 fluid only.
engine oil.....pretty much any oil works fine with these once the car's maintained properly. I've used Castrol GTX and Castrol Syntec Blend with good results so far. |
