|
|
Hey guys, i was driving last night and all of a sudden the power steering lock got hard, nearly cause me to run off the road. I eventually made my way straight home.
First thing this morning, i checked the power steering belt, it was intact.
I checked the power steering fluid, it was at an acceptable level.
I checked to see if any was leaking from below and i saw none.
So unless its probably the power steering pump itself am not sure wat it could be, this happened once before and i realised the power steering belt was shred by an rubbing on it and had fallen off. But this time the belt is intact and in proper condition.
Any help guys?? |

| Maybe we can shed a little more light on the subject if you tell us what car you were driving as well. Some p/s are also speed sensitive and can become quite stiff if the car is driving at high speed as well. Recheck the belt, fluid level and the universal joint on the steering rack. Sometime the joint can also be defective and cause the steering to feel extra hard. Jack up entire front of the car with engine off and lock steering out either side. If there is stiffnes in turning, chances are the joint is bad. Also with car started, check the flow of p/s fluid to see if the p/s pump is working. Examine hoses for pinch or restriction as well. |

| Take out the old one with braket and everything. The original might be hard to get used. With the old one out go in the Bamboo and see if you could get on to line up on the bracket. A slight modifcation might be necessary, but it is not impossible. |

| Once you buy an item which you asked for, businesses are not bounded to give refunds. If the parts is incorrect of does not function it's a different matter. However, they might be willing to give you a credit note. If you had indicated to us before that a hose was changed, we could have pointed you into this direction before you bought a new pump. Seen this happen a lot to men who change hoses and did not use the original. I did however told you to examine your hoses as well. If they do not take back the pump, you can put it up for sale in the classified section. |
