When started;the oil light didnt come off.Cut off engine.turn on the ignition;all lights came off except the oil light.

What can this be.Question Confused

No oil pressure. Your pump is probably gone.

Well if the engine was out, it might very well just be the sensor man.

Oil unit/sensor first culprit in that case then oil pressure issues.

if the sensor wire comes loose and touched any grounded part of the engine bay it will cause the light to switch on...this has happened to me before after an engine wash
check for the simpler possibilities first Idea

I'm assuming this may well be right, since anything else may have well triggered an error code as would have been indicated by your CEL

^^ Agreed. Its always useful to start small and work your way forward. Check the oil pressure sender unit for loose connections. I don't play with oil related issues at all('cept meh lil leaks and thing Laughing ),so if in doubt DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR!

the problem was the check valve was sticking..was washed out..sand down with very fine sand paper..washed again..an put back up..soo now it workkin like normal..
