|
|
SR, I was just wondering how many IASCA SQ shows are suppossed to be held per season?
Is there a standard amt of shows for SQ and IDBL individually or collectively?
I asked because I only noticed one SQ show for the season.
BTW- I noticed that there is a lack and consequently a need for sponserships of these shows as well.
Why do you think sponsers are so reluctant to take part in these shows?
Any ideas anyone? |

Sound Quality Has never been out of style,
But the fact remains that Sound Quality is not a spectator sport as Crowd pleaser or even IDBL for that matter. Its really a simple chain, Sponsors wish to gain the attention of Spectators/brand awareness, if you do not have a spectator sport, the chain is broken. However this only relates to mainstream consumer brands, Sound quality oriented Audio brands have no excuses.
Fact 2, Sound Quality is no bed or roses, Its not possible to build a vehicle in 2hrs and hit a show. This fact usually takes care of the Lazy people.
However, Team Hybrids has taken a ground up approach, Getting one new competitor at a time is enough to get the sport growing. I am determined to see Sound Quality become bigger.
On a side note, expect to see new competitors soon. I believe it is only through new potential competitors can shows be successful and plentiful, because it is clear that the only supporter Sound Quality has Is Sound Quality. |

yep SQ is not spectator friendly & vehicle owners not letting any & any body sit in their car especially ppl who dont really care or appreciate what SQ really is - only ppl known to d owner may get a opportunity to listen , also d security risks of letting john public know what u have in ur ride means ur vehicle cud get marked by some idiot\s & u cant park anywhere like how u use to since ppl didnt even know u have any music in there b4 ...cant blame d owners for this at all ... |

Why don't we have some "Sound Quality Tutorials" along with the shows?
Based from the last show i've been to, i've seen there is a lot of "spare time" for the spectators and some competitors while the judging is going on.
Why don't we capalize on this "spare time"& keep the spectators out of the judges' way by educating them on the subject? It is only through education that persons will know what true reproduction of audio in a vehicle's challenging environment is all about.
People will appreciate what they understand..........they can't appreciate what they have no idea of.
If knowledge is kept to ourselves no one really benefits.
Especially not SQ
And concerning the "not wanting to demo the vehicle" issue.......it may just be me, but i saw almost everyone giving a demo at the last event even to the "non-competitors".
As for me......................
I think it's worth an attempt in the least. |

Excellent idea on the tutorials. I had no idea there was so much 'spare time' at these events myself.
Or even a Q&A session with an 'non-busy' IASCA official.

| I would like to think that the IASCA officials at the events are approachable. If someone has a question, then by all means step up and ask. Once there's time I know that I'll be willing to facilitate any questions that's within my scope / knowledge to answer. |

We have had tutorials in the past as well as brought in Foreign Judges to do training sessions
bottm line everyone wanted it for free while IASCA Caribbean had to bear the cost with no returns as most never came into the lanes to compete
I can do competitor training etc however would you be willing to contribute?
With regards to number of events
1st of all IASCA caribbean is not a car show promoter but a sanctioning body undeer the umbrella of IASCA
100% IASCA series was only created due to lack of interest in other promoters to have thier shows sanctioned with an official judging body and trained judges
contrary to popular belief these events were mostly run at a loss to us and at the end of 2008 a decison was taken to step back from car show promotion and now work closer with promoters who were now interested in having thier events iasca sanctioned.
However SQ seems to have taken a backseat at these events for 2 main reasons
low competitor turn out and with the economy reduced sponsorship figures
any promoter in this buisness will tell you they also have to cut costs to keep thier events profitable for them and unfortunalty SQ has to suffer as with the above reasons it made no sense for the promoter
with regards to sponsorship
how many shops are willing to sponsor trophies etc towards this
i can count on my hand only 3 have been willing in the past
Team Hybrid
Genesis/Morel
DLS
some if not all have seen little returns on it but are still willing
In the past i have said we will be trying to hold low budget SQ events to keep SQ going however the main issue is venue's as well as i have realised that when a date/venue is chosen some competitors seem to have a problem and wont turn up making the attendance even lower than it is now
adding to that
at the last event the majority consensus was that there was a problem with the SQ judging including an official email of complaint being submitted
this is being adressed and has already been forwarded to iasca for guidance on my response
I have utmost confidence in my judging team and they have all been trained/re certified at SBN this year
SQ judging style has changed from what it use to be previously and it is across the board
I will be emailing my response to the competitor with the complaint soon and i will post the comments i received from IASCA regarding this issue
but at the same time ask yourself this
why are there not many new competitors
most of the reasons i hear are that they are intimidated by vehicles built by "pro's" in the lower categories such as rookie and amateuer class's
Shameer and Myself have been working for the last 6 months trying to coordianate another 100% iasca event/world record event however due to venue availability lack of funding/sponsorship/clash of already confirmed dates with other promoters and availability of a WR judge it has been difficult
MK promotions has hinted a 90% chance of SQ at the national finals at the end of Oct in pier2
barring that i am also trying to cooridnate a small scale event asap but i have nothing confimed as yet
as well as there is the possibilty of a 100% iasca event at the end of sept but nothing has been confirmed as yet
We would like to have 5 SQ event per season but the reality of it due to the failing economy worldwide this has not been possible for 2009 hopefully things will improve for the 2010 season
IASCA Caribbean is here for the long haul and we will try our best to keep this going and support our membership |

yes but was it really a problem or do the competiors understand the scoring process for 2009 onwards
it is always quite easy to blame the judge if you werent happy with your scores
but keep in mind the same judge scored all the vehicles in the same manner so there was no unfair advantage for anyone
i rememeber my 1st event years ago and i as well also scored vehicles quite strict
as for sq events
look out soon
there will be at least 5 sq events before the end of the year 4 will be iasca sanctioned
once things go as planned
will keep everyone up to date as i have confirmation
there will be 2 in sept
2 in oct and 1 in november |
