| hey my sr20 det engine rpm only dropping and not holding a steady RPM and cutting off, it usually idels at 1000 some rpm but now it dropping to about 500-0 and cutting off, there are times it idels good and then there have its days when it drops its idel and cut off, anyone know what might be the cause of this problem?? oh and it recently start to happen, about 1 week now and b4 it was good, any advice or anyone know what might and how to solve this prob, any advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks.. |

| what do you mean by "dropping" is it revving up an down....black smoking ? check the minor things b4 assuming bigger stuff..your idle switch sticking?.....does it work well above the 1000 rpm mark? |

| whena last you change the spark plugs? either that or probably the distributor |

yes its revving up and down, no black smoke. some times it does rev up and down between the 1000 rpm mark down and other times its good. |

| i didnt check anything as yet, it just recently start to happen so i just decided to ask if anyone had that prob b4 so i can narrow down what to check first |

| well could be a range of problems, but the easiest to check might be the tb...clean out the valve and idle switch and see what happens. |

Well multiple stuff....
1. trottle body
2. Air flow sensor
3. plugs and wirs
4. Timing (but mostly not )
5. Vacume lines can have ah break in one of them causeing it to flucate !!!
check these thing before going any further ...might find the problem in front yh eyes !! |

| I had a similar issue with a SR20de. It was a vacuum line with a small split on the end. |

check vacuum lines if not...I had a similar issue...turned out to be a bad maf.... try a swap on the maf sensor with another...det # should 53j01.....or just service d dam car  |
