Good. What kind of helmet it is?Look into getting a tinted visor.Send the model too and i'll look around.
BTW, do you have any idea on the procedures to follow when importing a vehicle as well as costs? |

Now seeing this thread. Really pleased thus far.
A few things...riders need to understand the limits of their bike and themselves, too many times i've seen/heard of guys wiping out trying to follow the pack. If you prefer to ride in a group, dont try to impress, esp if you are new. |

| One of the things i hate the most while riding is an idiot tailgating me.I usually tap my brake pedal a couple times to encourage them to fall back a bit, but it seems dangerous.Pulling over to the side works fine. But it gets annoying having to pull over more than 3 times so dumb cagers can pass. How do you guys deal with tailgaters? |

| Question why these bikers now a day like to pull out and overtake and run straight up on the oncoming vehicle??? They doh realize they could seriously get fawked up because of a miscalculation on the car they overtaking part......or the oncoming car part.....??? Some of these fellas riding and tailgating like is a car or van they in.......and plenty of them NOT WEARING PROTECTIVE GEAR(IDIOTS). Is almost like they doh realize when they hit the car.....or ANYTHING is just dem and road....and we in trinidad so yuh likely to end up sk8in through some wasa pothole too |

note my response does not apply to all bikers....but some.
in the last couple months i've seen a large increase in the amount of them on the roads, and with the increase i see a large improvement in how they ride, compared to a couple years ago. in addition more of them are using protective gear....its been a while since i've seen someone on a sport bike riding in a t-shirt and short pants........the attitude of riders is changing slowly.....ant its changing for the better.....unlike driving habits. |

^^^ Very true.....maybe it's from all the road carnage we're seeing involving cars. The guys I ride with have all spent good money on protective gear and when riding in a group space themselves out very well, ride safely obeying all traffic rules if ur gonna pass a vehicle there has to be enough room for the pack or enough road spacing to allow the pack to pass in parts and form back up... in fact their saying is "2 wheels on the ground...all the time"....yet still they have a helluva a great time....so safety and fun are not mutually exclusive.
As a rule the more experience riders are up front ...decreasing in experience as you move to the rear of the pack. When required we'll even have an experienced rider drop to the back when the road gets more technical. |

there arent many places that sell gear.....and most of those that sell gear usually are a bit expensive (but then again you cant put a price on safety).......i'm actually getting a clothing store to order a Fox helmet for me
most of the gear shops are the ppl who sell bikes.........and those arent soo many..........if u're going to open a shop.....cater for sport, cruiser, MX, and scooters
BTW alpinestars washes everything away |

YES!! If you're starting a motorcycle clothing and protective gear at competitive prices, you're going to blow away the competition. However try to cater for all types of budgets.IMO, the motorcycle scene in Trinidad is growing quickly and a business like this would prove to be profitable.Just my 2 cents.lol |

Good to know i will be moving to the north west of the island around Sept/Octo.First thing ive got to do some home improvements then i will see what i can get sorted would probley try and import direct from U.S or Europe see what distributor gives the best margin when converted to TT dollars and go from there. When i was over in May i was surprised with how many bikes where around and also the lack of equipment .Also ive found in England Trackdays are a good way of improving your skills and get far more from your bike than you could ever imagine on the road in a safe environment can you guys turn up at a circuit (IS THERE A CIRCUIT??) and pay some cash for a days circuit riding with tuition ETC??.Also is off roading big as im sure there must be no end of trails in the North range?? as i do like a bit of Enduro riding thanks for replys |

try to get gear from the manufacturers and not distributors.....that way u pay less and so do the customers.........
try some clothing too, that should help sales as well i guess..........
we used to have a circuit some years back.....i never saw bikes on it though....except on the straight section
Guyana and Barbados both have circuits and they have bikes racing.........
as for motocross there are some events now and then, but i've never been to one......however there are off road rides........quite a lot of them are in south though......through cane and teak plantations.....and some old oil field roads.........heard some stores of those guys riding in the forest.........cant wait to get myself a trail..... |

I would go direct to all companys that have a option to deal direct Astar dont use a distributor you have no choice but to buy direct ive had a account with them for many years so get a very good margin and fast delivery however with Arlen ness and Berik you have to go through a distributor either one in Germany that supplys Europe or Madif design in the US.At the moment im just testing the water so will have to wait and see what ive got to play with when im there but you are right if you can go direct then the margin is around 20% better and that can be passed on to the customer.I know Barbados has a circuit i made leathers for a few of the guys that race 125s there that was a few years ago i must say.Clothing is my main area that ive been involved in and thats what i would mainly be interested in. Selling bikes requires a work shop importing pdi checks ETC.Just need to try and get my bike imported over now that should be fun |

i called up fox a couple days ago, cuz i had some questions on helmet sizing and fit......i told them there was not a dealer here so its not easy to try on helmets.........woman said check the website, i did and nothing.....so there's another company u can check.......most of the shops that sell fox have a fox dealer sticker, but arent really dealers.........
try icon and dainese as well..........but icon is very popular here.....dont know why, but it is...............
i personally dont really like their styles
i think puma has a motorcycle boots division......those are real nice as well..........u could look at those............
oh and dont forget the helmets
i dont think importing a bike is hard....since its yours it shouldnt be a problem......just call up the license office and talk to someone |
