For the past six months there have been initiatives driven by the Ministry of Sport and Youth affairs to bring the various bodies of motor Sport together. On Wednesday 5th November another such meeting was held with the Hon. Minister of Sport, Mr. Gary Hunt, his senior technocrats and all the stakeholders.

Having clearly understood the status of discussions from meetings held over the past four months, and current positions adopted, The Hon. Minister outlined his desire to have all parties come together in an environment that would encourage total support, cooperation and all parties pulling in the same direction.

Indications were clearly given that such a development would obviously lead to the Government seriously considering the development of a Motor Sport facility that would be in keeping with its 20/20 initiatives.

This would also see the mobilization of competitors from a very young age being properly groomed and directed along a path of development towards achieving International competitive ability in such sports as Karting, Rallying and Solodex in the first instance.

The ministry indicated when a motorsport complex is built to facilitate the various motorsport disciplines in T&T, this facility will be controlled by the government and not any one club or association.

An undertaking was given that the major players will meet again within two weeks in an attempt to iron out all current differences and come back with a unified position.

All parties have indicated a willingness to make a concerted attempt to finally resolve this matter.

At least it may mark the end of politics in Motorsport between the various factions...... then again if the government is in control of the facility it means they will be playing the politics which I guess they must being the government..... One wonders who they will put in charge of such a facility and who his/her friends are?

the facility will have a drag strip and eventually a circuit track as that would take the longest to build.

Karting and Rallying were mentioned as competitors can be very young (a kart driver can be 5 years old and you do not need a license to drive to navigate a rally car)- Solodex can address young drivers as an introduction to motorsport. Read the paragraph and not just the sentence.

SPORTT (Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago) will have control of the facility. www.sportt-tt.com

you know.......
I may seem to be coming down negatively here....but
,
if Autosport , Rally Club & cars all publicly lambasting TTASA , about being so good-for-nothing..........
..
why the hell are they sucking up to the 'minister' & pretending they WANT TTASA to join matt ??
...
IF TTASA SO 'NO-GOOD'...why do these people want TTASA to be part of their group ??

and spare the b.s. about

because as fast as one comes out of a 'meeting' with the 'minister' they get on a talk show to complain about TTASA...

sigh................bray in every thread, but can't respond to this Getting the facts right about ...........................

pity the idea of equal representation is lost on you. can't comprehened that even though you have failed in the past, there is still an offer for you to manage your discipline, but all bodies having equal input into decisions that ultimately affect them.

Cars really have nothing to do with TTASA. We simply would like to see motorsport in Trinidad go forward, as we seem to have gone backward in the last few years. That comment might upset some people but look at it, we have no track and no resolve to this in sight.

Now just like a government that does not perform the people see time for change and this is what will happen. All you are doing is holding back everyone for your own personal gains and honestly all this nonsence needs to stop.

Join the organisation if you are interested in motorsport, have a say in what happens. Stop holding back the future of motorsport. If you think that MATT cannot do the job, let them try at least it will absolve you of blame.

Link, just out of interest and I could be wrong, but are you the spokesperson for TTASA as I never see the president or any of the trustees posting their opinions here. I wonder if you share the same views as them.
