i would never buy a F2T........those engine pull stones...might as well buy a B6T or a N/A BP.....

if u want a powerful 2.0L mazda engine look for the FE3......

back when I had delusions of fixing up the PAX 323, I thought about that swap.
Its way too hard to find. Great engine though. Happy with a turbo like fish in water.
Lets not talk about parts.
A ZL-VE would be a nice match to the PAY 323. 130 Hp and it shouldnt be as heavy as an SR20. Gas consumption should be ok too. Better than your E5. Due to the gearing, Mazda's burn a bit more gas than the average car, but the performance you get.... Faiz auto supplies had one for $7500.
A bit expensive in my book.

And I very much insist that you upgrade the brakes.
BF 323 brakes suck big time.
A common upgrade in rallying circles was using the following -

1989 Mitsubishi Galant VR4 front rotors (10.5 inch)
90-94 BG Calipers (Designation 14 22V)
Longer studs.. RX7 (not sure which model)

I think i still have the 90-94 calipers and an extra BF hub. Didnt get around to buying the rotors.

I also upgraded the master cylinder... used a 1997 323 master cylinder and booster. (15/16) inch as opposed to the stock (7/Cool inch.
Was a direct bolt in. Intention was to eventually get the 929 1 inch master cylinder. Didnt get that far though.

DO NOT PUT DISC BRAKES IN THE REAR.
The BF 323 had a faulty rear caliper. With age, an internal pin wears and you lose hand brake functionality. Been there.

All the links with the brake upgrade seem to have dried up, so PM me if you want more details.

Another thing I forgot to mention...
B14 and CK4 lancer front springs line up in the BF 323 front.
B11 front springs line up in the rear of the BF 323.

i didnt think it worked on the BF.......knuckle...

i was going to do the conversion, but then it required bigger rims.....and i didnt know for sure if it would work on the BF knuckle...

i was also thinking instead of using the galant rotors, to use the BJ familia rotors....they look pretty nice to me.....
what u think?
this would be going on a laser.......

i've seen the FE3 around a few times.....its not drastically rare....

that ZL-VE is the 1.5 dohc vvt......?

yup, ZL-VE is 1.5 vvt.

You will need custom axles for the E5 to ZL swap.

14 inch rims or bigger for the brake upgrade.

BJ rotors are small, either 9.3 or 10 inch, depending on which one you get.
They are also 4*100 as opposed to the BF and galant 4*114.
You gonna have to drill new holes on the BJ rotors.
The new model galant ~2000 from Japan rotors *should* work too.
Havent verified it though.

Laser and BF are mechanically the same, so it dont matter.

In fact let compare ALL MAZDA engine turbo charged:

F2T - 144hp / 190tq
BP-Z3 - 201hp / 206tq
BPT (GT-R) - 206hp / 184tq
BPT - 179hp / 174tq
BP-4w - 175hp / 166tq
B6T - 147hp / 137tq

now add in the power to weight factor and what u WILL get is a bullet, so papa check again because a bone stock F2T on a sheit cluch, will still kick ass from now till sundown and I CAN PROVE IT! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

BTW raising HP really isn't a factor, torque counts for more than HP. That's why hondas are so shitty until VTEC kick in and whatever high RPM.

SO a simple F2 in a 323 will run like bandit.

but umm.....BIG Z r u sure sure those 14-22V calipers work on the stock BF knuckles.....or r u talking bout the BF turbo knuckles?

i think i gotta check this out personally...firetruck, to the bamboo again...

Good news - 14-22V calipers are outside my house bolted to the normal 323 hub.
Bad really bad news - VR4 rotor wont work. Something about the original diameter of the 323 rotor is needed. This really sux as the 323 rotor is 9 23/64 inch in diameter. You can probably get away with a 9 40/64 inch diameter upgrade rotor. Im sorry I never measured this before.

Hello boys. My Elie and I am from tobago. I have a old model 323 mazda and it is in horrible condition. I am being told time and time again to sell it but I love the damn car.

The car belonged to my father before and he didnt take care of it. So now he has a nissan B15 and I got the old car. But ever sine i can remember i real love that car. I even went to trinidad three weekends ago and spent $2500 on it changing the velocity joint and disk pads and the two back shocks.

Please some one help me. I am not that educated about cars and give me some advice on what to do and things i can do to take of my car. i dont have plenty money to do all at once. SO if i can do things one at a time that would be great. Right now i need a new engine and transmission.

So help me out nah.............MAZDA FOR LIFE...I was even thinking of coaxing my mother into buying a new model 323 mazda.

haha damn man.....well now we know for sure the 22V works right....!!!

i read u need to use the 256mm calipers from the galan, i do believe there are 3 different sizes.........and u need to shave the 323 HUB...so the rotor can fit over it....

DO IT.......if it works im going to the bamboo ASAP...to pick me up some sheit...!!!

i put on the normal vented 323lx discs and calipers.....they work really good....but i get a real bad vibration from them when im stopping at high speed.....so instead of surfacing em or whatever....i'll just change em over totally.....
how much would a pair of galant rotors sell for and the 22V calipers?

Problem with this upgrade... you will need to shave the rotor down to about 244 mm diameter so it can clear the 14-22V caliper.
The main benefit to this upgrade is the wider rotor, almost 33% wider.
The rotor will dissipate more heat > More reliable stoping power.
You also get a slightly wider track, so better handling.

Bagobaby,
Get the B11 front springs and install it in the 323 rear to complement those new rear shocks.
A 16 valve B13 carburretor engine and tranny is a good replacement. Cheap to setup and run. Parts are cheap too. More powerful than the E3 or E5 engine in your car.

so can the B6 gearbox (g-type) hold with a BPT????

also i got a 2nd gen 323f. (95 model) will the BPT fit in it with no worries or cutting, etc.??

but a BPT.....if u have the money, i think u'd feel better if you used the BP G-type box...they known to hold over 300+whp...

why mazda people putting nissan engines in their cars? allyuh confused r wa?
