^ he did not shorten the track, he actually lengthened it by using the run off area. He also had no where to go on track as people were 3 wide thru the corner and he was forced wide by rubens, cant remeber for sure. He was also in 3rd going into the corner, look at it.

and what about the 3 others doing the same thing behind him? Is hammie invisible to u just then? come on guys, racing is racing. dont u think if bmw or toyota thought something was up with that, they woudl have said something?

FIA to investigate 'events' at Singapore GP
Sunday 30th August 2009

Events at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix are under the microscope after the FIA confirmed that it has launched an investigation into the race.

"The FIA can confirm that an investigation is underway regarding alleged events at a previous World Championship race," a spokesperson told Autosport.

Renault's Fernando Alonso won the race despite starting 15th on the grid. He owed much of his success to team-mate Nelson Piquet jr after the Brazilian crashed in the early stages of the race.

The crash led to the deployment of the Safety Car and Alonso was perfectly set up for the victory as he refuelled moments before the incident.

Brazilian media speculated that Piquet was ordered to crash by the Renault team to help Alonso to take advantage of an early pit stop, but Piquet was quick to deny the reports.

However, the issue has come to light again just a few weeks after the French-based squad dropped Piquet jr in July.

It's the inconsistency of the stewards that's ruining this sport...

Even though he went wide he clearly gained an advantage by doing so, not having to brake as much and avoided all the traffic on track, and thus carrying momentum up to Eau Rouge...

If he kept his 4 wheels inside the white lines like the rest of the field, no way he would have won that race.

If its under the category of 'racing is racing', then the stewards shouldn't have penalized Hamilton last year.

^ hamilton hit a guy, cut the inside, and made a pass.

Kimi was run wide by cars pulling onto him, forcing him wide. He did not gain a speed advantage from that, and even if he did, it was lost as he was bumpering Trulli into au rouge. It was the kers up the kemel straight that allowed him to pass for 2nd.

No seriously where IS the Lewzai????? (Hammie)

Isn't he "the virtuoso"? The "reigning" F1 champeeen?

J. Button made a good showing early in the year....glad for him, but his talent is nowhere near Alonso's or Kimi's. As for Hammie, he's a good driver, but damn....he just whines and groans and complains too much.

"Oh F1 isn't fun anymore" etc etc etc. Duh.......that's because the drivers with REAL talent are showing up more and more now....and those that rely on trick gadgets and tech are being forced back down.

Thus the reason you see folks like Vettel (young he maybe though) doing better in qualifying, Rubens and Kimi getting more consistent results later on in the series etc etc etc.

Hammie should go fly his flag in Nascar, and let Montoya come back in his place. I'd love to see the Yanks eat him alive. Laughing

Ferrari: Injured F1 Driver Felipe Massa Set for Surgery in Coming Days

MARANELLO, Italy/MIAMI — Superstar Michael Schumacher and injured F1 driver Felipe Massa are unlikely to be slotted into Ferrari's lineup to replace the disappointing Luca Badoer as the Italian marque prepares for the Italian Grand Prix on September 13. Ferrari confirmed on Tuesday that Massa, who is scheduled for plastic surgery in the next few days, is not expected to return until "next racing season," while Schumacher insists that he is not reconsidering a comeback to the sport.

In its most detailed medical update on Massa to date, Ferrari said the recuperating driver had a variety of tests, including "neurometric and impact tests (and) cognitive capacity tests" at the Jackson Memorial Hospital Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit in Miami.

"All had a positive outcome," said the automaker in a statement. "Now there has just to be carried out some plastic surgery at the brain box, where the spring at the accident at the Hungaroring hit his helmet. The surgery will take place in the upcoming days. After a short convalescence, Felipe can then gradually start with physical preparations."

Massa suffered a gruesome-looking head injury following a crash during qualifying earlier this summer at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Ferrari said it looks forward to counting on Massa "for the start of the next racing season."

Massa also issued a statement that put the brakes on a speedy return back to Formula 1.

"After the small surgery in the next days, I can finally start to go to the gym to get back into shape and drive some tests in karts," he said. "On the track with a Formula 1 single-seater? Let's take it step by step: at the moment, I'm concentrating on taking up physical activities, which is a great step forward."

In the meantime, Schumacher — who was originally set to replace Massa, but bailed out due to a neck injury — seemed determined to quash any speculation that he may replace Badoer, who has turned in two dismal performances on the track in August as a fill-in for Massa. Schumacher said on his official blog on August 30 that he has been karting again, but not to read anything into that activity.

"To rule it out straight away," he said, "whoever thinks this was practice for a later F1 comeback is interpreting way too much into that fun drive. I met friends here and experiencing a funny (sic) weekend, quite (sic) some telephone calls with Luca, the engineers and Stefano (Domenicali) in Spa included. Nothing more."

Ferrari, which is expected to announce Badoer's fate sometime this week, was silent on the issue as of Tuesday morning. Badoer turned in another disappointing drive on Sunday at the Belgian Grand Prix, finishing in last place. Ferrari on Sunday said it is taking a "few days to evaluate (Badoer's) immediate future.

Brawn likes hot tracks cuz of the tire temperature problem they have.

Spa is up in the forests in Belgium and ambient temperature was fairly cool. They knew they weren't going to be front runners last race.

Button should have been higher up on the grid though, Reubens still pulled off a decent quali lap, and Button's smooth driving style suits the fast sweeping corners of Spa.
