Piquet needs to understand that respect isn't given because your father is Nelson Piquet Sr., he has to go out there and prove it.
Not only did Piquet Jr. just ruin his already dwindling career with Renault but almost certainly within the F1 fraternity. |

Piquet should have been let go ages ago..send him to NASCAR he could fit in there
I 100% agree that you have to earn your respect, you can't get any because your pappy was an ex champ. |

How come Brawn didn't get a fine or banned for having Barichello's faulty car on track during qualifying.
The 2lb spring which caused so much damage to Massa came off the car during normal driving. Not like the car was in a recent collision or something.
Renault get a huge shaft for having the wheel come off, yet Brawn gets away.
Maybe its because Henry Surtees died so recently when a wheel struck him on the helmet.... |

| there are regulations regarding wheel tethers which should eliminate any wheel from being thrown from a vehicle. I don't think this applies to mechanical parts like the spring which came off the Brawn GP car. |

the next GP is in Valencia. Alonso is treated like a god in Spain, and he may not get to race in front of his fanatical home fans... |

By the rules, entire wheels are NOT supposed to come off...reason being the same that caused Sertes death..snce the Senna incident and later on Monza in 01 i think, there are very very strict rules on the wheel not coming off, even in most accidents... |

they should extend it to flying debris that is not as a resultof any car to car impact.
On another note...one wonders why there isnt a remote kill engine system in the event something like this happens...im sure the Ferrari team saw when his body went limp, killing the engine and applying a remote praking system cud have brought down the speed even furter..
yes i knw the logistics and variances in this is hard to justify.... but im sure the same level of discussion was had when implementing KERS.... |

in a split second, its near impossible to see his body go "limp" given that the only view they have of him was the on board...the closest sign would've been the telemtry showing that his feet were both on the brake and gas...and either way if they're wrong and do apply the brake, the driver could lose control and end up just as badly off... |

| Quote: | BMW's future in Formula 1 is in serious doubt amid mounting speculation that the German car manufacturer will announce its withdrawal from the sport at the end of this season, on Wednesday.
An emergency press conference has been called at BMW's headquarters in Munich, where it is suggested that the car company may reveal that it has decided to end its involvement in F1.
The invite to the press conference said it had been called because of 'current developments in motor sport.'
The press conference will be hosted by Dr. Norbert Reithofer, the chairman of the BMW board, Dr. Klaus Draeger, the director for development, and Mario Theissen, BMW motorsport director. The presence of such senior management figures suggests that the announcement will be very significant.
Officials at BMW refused to comment about what the press conference was about, but they did confirm that it was 'important' news.
BMW had hoped to fight for the world championship this year, but instead the F1.09 has fallen short of expectations. Its struggles, allied to the abandonment of its KERS, that BMW had pushed hard for in F1, are likely to have played a part in any decision about the future of the team.
Although BMW Sauber had a difficult start to the season, Theissen has made it clear on several occasions that the team's form had not changed the BMW Board's commitment to F1.
"We analysed and evaluated the situation and the F1 programme with the board prior to the start of the season in February," said Theissen in May. "It was overall a very positive evaluation and judgement, and that hasn't changed.
"Apparently everybody is disappointed about the sporting results, but other than that there is no news and we have not discussed it since."
However, sources suggest that a review meeting was planned for July to decide the future of the team - and this may be behind any announcement planned for the morning.
Should BMW confirm it is pulling out of the sport, it will be the second car manufacturer to do so in eight months - with Honda having announced last December that it was to leave the sport.
The announcement will be more of a surprise, however, because BMW Sauber was on the verge of signing a Concorde Agreement that would have committed the team to F1 until the end of 2012. |

still not a reason to suspend Renault .
last season more than one driver wheel came off and no team was suspended |

^^Corect is right. That happened most notably when a pit crew member didn't fasten a tyre properly on one of the cars last year (was that Hammie???), and it just rolled off right on turn 1 outta the pits.
No suspension there afaik. Someone who can remember the details can correct me if I'm wrong. |

Ferrari have confirmed seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher will make a sensational return to Formula One to stand in for Felipe Massa for the rest of the season.
German driving legend Schumacher still works for Ferrari as an advisor, but after Massa's shocking injury in Hungary he will now get back behind the wheel once again.
Schumacher has some time to prepare as the F1 season takes a summer break, but he should once again line up on the grid at the European Grand Prix in Valencia on August 23.
