it was said that the spring weighed just over a pound and with the velocity of the impact it was averaged to have struck him at over 1600lbs of force

Massa suffered eye damage in crash
Felipe Massa's Formula One career appears to be hanging in the balance following confirmation he has suffered some damage to his left eye.
Massa is currently in intensive care at the AEK military hospital in Budapest after suffering a skull fracture following a freak accident on Saturday during qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Although the 28-year-old, still in a medically-induced coma, has shown signs of improvement after undergoing emergency surgery, it has now emerged Massa may have sustained eye problems.
If that is the case, and the Brazilian is unable to see properly in the future, it will mean his days in motor racing are over.
Professor Robert Veres said: "He has suffered some damage to the eye.
"We don't know if he'll be able to race again.
"I don't know (if he can return). It's too early to say about his future.
"We don't know the extent of the damage. Without an operation it's very hard to evaluate its function."
Veres also confirmed on Monday afternoon Massa remained sedated "to protect his brain", which has apparently experienced some swelling, but he is out of serious danger.
Meanwhile, Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo visited Massa in hospital on Monday and insisted no decisions would be taken over the Italian marque's direction for the rest of the season until the driver's situation was clarified.
"Our first priority is Felipe's recovery, Felipe's progress and so on," he said.
"Felipe's been an important member of the Ferrari family for many years, since he arrived as a kid, so we all hope he can come back soon."
Di Montezemlo added: "(Team principal Stefano) Domenicali has to think and make good proposals for the future.
"We don't want to wait too long for Felipe, but our first priority now is to find out about Felipe, and only at that moment will we take a decision."

| i dunno about that, Alonso and Renault seem to be coming together yet again. When this happens we know the two time champ will contend with the French team. 2010 may see a resurgence of Renault yet again. |

Piquet: Flav doesn't know s*** about F1
Don't expect to see Nelson Piquet Jr at the next race, be it Valencia or Spa for Renault, after he launched a scathing attack on his team boss Flavio Briatore.
With rumours of Piquet's pending sacking for underwhelming performances already making headlines, his future was thrown into even more doubt when Briatore revealed he was not happy with the Brazilian's results in his second season in F1.
"I've always been fair with my drivers," Briatore said. "I expected more from Piquet because this is his second year with a full-time drive. He's done less testing compared to Alonso, but Webber as well tested less than Vettel because of his broken leg, but look where he is now.
"When a driver lacks results, he opens the book of excuses and begins: the fault is the weather's, a spectator's sunglasses, a spin on the straight, this and that...
"It's not true that there's a technical difference of seven tenths between Alonso's and Piquet's car. If that was true, we'd have a car capable of winning the title, and that unfortunately isn't the case. The technical difference has always been minimal and never longer than one race."
But rather than take the criticism on the chin, Piquet has come out swinging - and in doing so has probably signed his P45
"Flavio is a business man, but he doesn't understand s*** about F1," Piquet told Autosprint magazine. "He's my manager, but in his role of team boss he doesn't respect me.
"He only thinks about money, at how much money he can pocket in everything he's involved, he's a man with no friends. Every day everyone asks me what's going on, so why should I always keep quiet?
"Webber has been in F1 since 2001, he started in a different era, when testing wasn't limited. He's probably done more than 20,000 kms in testing, so it's not a fair comparison. Now the situation is more difficult for a driver with little experience.
"And besides that, I have to fight against Briatore and Alonso himself, who is a fantastic driver. When I wasn't competitive in qualifying, I was the first owing up to it. But if Briatore doesn't understand that, what can I do?"
PF1 would like to take this moment to welcome Romain Grosjean to Formula One... |

Michael Schumacher open to Formula One return
Michael Schumacher's spokeswoman, Sabine Kehm, has admitted the seven-time Formula One world champion would consider providing cover for injured Ferrari driver Felipe Massa in a short-term capacity if he is asked.

Now i know the UK is even worse than the US when it comes to rumors but this could worry the other teams if it comes to fruition. |

Michael Schumacher's manager Willi Weber is adamant that the German won't the one replacing Felipe Massa in the Euro GP.
With Massa is still in hospital following his horrific qualifying accident in Hungary, Ferrari are on the look-out for someone to replace the Brazilian.
Thoughts immediately went to seven-time World Champion Schumacher with the British press reporting that Ferrari are "open" to him taking up the reigns while Massa is recuperating.
The reports gained momentum when Schumacher's spokeswoman Sabine Kehm told the BBC that "the whole thing will be considered by Ferrari. If they approach Michael, then he will consider it."
However, the German's manager has now poured cold water over the reports, saying Schumacher "not will" make a return in Valencia.
"Whoever sits in the car at the next race in Valencia, it will not be Michael Schumacher. I am not 100 per cent sure; I am 200 per cent sure," he told the Daily Mail.
"The pressure on him would be huge. He would be expected to win, but he has not driven this car. When Michael was racing he would get as close to perfection as possible. In this case, it would not be perfection; it would be a gamble - and that's not Michael's style." |
