'Rubens could be the biggest loser in liargate'
Monday 13th April 2009

Rubens Barrichello could be the biggest loser should McLaren be banned by the WMSC, as there's speculation in the British media that Lewis Hamilton could then take his race-seat.

the diffusers are legal

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12433_5190760,00.html
Quote:
"The FIA International Court of Appeal has decided to deny the appeals submitted against decisions numbered 16 to 24 taken by the Panel of the Stewards on March 26 at the Australian Grand Prix and counting towards the 2009 FIA Formula One World Championship.

"Based on the arguments heard and evidence before it, the court concluded that the stewards were correct to find that the cars in question comply with the applicable regulations.

"Full reasons for this decision will be provided in due course."

It was the best outcome for the sport in my view

well its now everybody rushing to get their diffuser on...am glad they got the green light for it, any kind of innovation of that type should be encouraged and the rest of the field has to play catch up now and if it was deemedto be illegal...you could imagine the bacchanal that would have caused!

Its legal so they'll keep them...
Time for Ferrari, McLaren and co to start developing theirs...
RBR have already started, and God help the rest of the teams if it works...they're already as fast as Brawn and Toyota without them...

I sure the rest of the teams have started development on their diffusers since Brawn had theirs out..just a matter of time before we see them on.

well ferarri's on it

Quote:
"Unfortunately this decision forces us to intervene on fundamental areas of the car's design in order to be able to compete on an equal footing with some of the teams from a point of view of the technical regulations,” said team principal Stefano Domenicali. “And that will take time and money.”

http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2009/4/9177.html

I say by Bahrain they (ferrari) will be introducing a new diffuser,
Although, according to F Alonso
Quote:
But Alonso says that of the diffuser is cleared as legal then the other seven teams will struggle to challenge for the drivers' or constructors' titles.

"We'll have to see what they (the judges) decide," said Alonso. "It's a complicated issue, but the championship could be more or less decided.

"If the diffusers are legal, the Brawns are going to be nearly unreachable for any other team."

The problem for the others teams is that a re-designed diffuser would have a huge effect on the car, and would take too long to incorporate.

"You have to work on the whole car," Alonso explained. "It's not just about adding the diffuser and suddenly the car is a second quicker.

"The diffuser makes you go fast if you have a new front end, new sidepods, a new engine cover.

"You have to rebuild the whole car, and that would take a lot of months."

^Not necessarily...i'm sure the teams have all made contingency plans since Day 1 of testing should it have been deemed legal...
Rumour in the Ferrari camp after the Aussie race was that it would be made ready at the first or second race when the series hits Europe...i'm sure Renault, BMW and McLaren would be the same as all of those companies have their bases in Europe...

Dave Ryan was put as the scapegoat in this entire fiasco. McLaren have offically cut all ties with him.

^He's not...they're just too tainted atm...first the stepney issue and now this...by the same individuals...McLaren are going to need a massive restructuring soon...and even with i'm sure Hamilton will jump ship when he can to go to a more competitive team, regardless of all the comments he made about "McLaren for life"

He handed over most of his F1 team principal duties to Martin Whitmarsh before the 09 season even started anyway, he was ready to leave F1.

Almost 30 years of having to put up with Bernie/Max and the blatant bias the FIA has against McLaren would send anyone crazy.

Him taking the fall for the liargate scandal could be his last favour to the F1 team.

and @ Banzai... iz National you have to send me hoss... Monarch too frikkin scary...
