nice drive by Vettel

Lewis retires with brake issues, oh well McLaren secure 3rd place in the WCC over Ferrari anyway since neither team achieves a point.

Barrichello switches to Williams

(CNN) -- Brazilian Rubens Barrichello will drive for Williams next season after switching from this year's constructors' champions Brawn GP.

The 37-year-old veteran will form a new driver partnership with promising young German Nico Hulkenberg at the English-based team for the 2010 season.

Hulkenberg, 22, has been the team's test driver in 2009.

They replace German Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima of Japan, who are leaving after a disappointing 2009 season which has seen Williams finish a lowly seventh in the constructors' standings.

Team principal Frank Williams told the team's offficial Web site www.williamsF1.com that he was delighted with his new signings.

"Rubens needs no introduction. He is not only the most experienced driver in Formula One, but a passionate and talented driver who fought hard for the drivers' championship this year," he said.

"Nico Hulkenberg won the GP2 Championship this season as a rookie and has previously won the F3 Euroseries, Formula Masters, A1 GP and Formula BMW Germany."

Barrichello and new world champion Jenson Button dominated the early part of this year's title race with Brawn.

Button won six of the first seven races, but Barrichello hit back to claim the 10th and 11th grand prix wins of his career in Valencia and Monza to boost his own championship hopes.

A puncture in his home race in Brazil saw Barrichello's title hopes ended and he eventually finished third in the standings after Sebastien Vettel claimed this weekend's inaugural Abu Dhabi GP.

He has made a record 284 starts and is set to break the magic 300 barrier next season with Williams.

Brawn have yet to confirm their 2010 driver line-up with new champion Button set to be rewarded with an improved contract and reports linking Rosberg to a switch after his Williams departure.

In other motorsport news, tire manufacturer Bridgestone announced Monday that it will pull out of Formula One at the end of next season.

Bridgestone becomes the latest Japanese corporation to quit high-end motorsport, with Honda's withdrawal from F1 at the end of last season setting the trend.

In a statement on its Web site, Bridgestone said it was "focused on the need to redirect its resources towards the further intensive development of those innovative technologies and strategic products which support the company's goals."

Bridgestone's main rivals Goodyear and Michelin withdrew from their Formula One activities in earlier seasons, leaving them as the exclusive suppliers in the sport.

Bridgestone end F1 contract

Bridgestone have confirmed that they will not continue to supply tyres for Formula One once their current contract runs out in 2010.

The Japanese manufacturer have been the sole supplier of tyres for the series since 2007, but claim they want to focus their resources on new technology and products after honouring the final year of their deal next season.

"The company focused on the need to redirect its resources towards the further intensive development of those innovative technologies and strategic products which support the company's goals and further enhance the company's reputation as a technology leader," read a statement from Bridgestone.

"The lessons learned through Bridgestone's successful participation have translated into innovations that can be applied to the design and manufacture of tyres.

"In addition, its collaboration with F1 has contributed to increased brand awareness and the recognition of Bridgestone as a leader in the global tyre industry.

"Having achieved these goals, Bridgestone is now poised to take its technological and brand building efforts to the next level."

Bridgestone has been regularly supplying tyres to the Formula One championship since 1997 and became the sole supplier a year earlier than scheduled when Michelin withdrew after the 2006 season.

They become the latest in a line of Japanese companies leaving F1 following Honda, who pulled out to cut costs amidst the global downturn, and the Toyota-owned Fuji International Speedway, who announced it would not host the Japanese F1 Grand Prix from 2010 and beyond.

Shocked

Senna secures F1 drive

The name Senna is to return to Formula One for the first time in 16 years next season after it was confirmed that Bruno Senna has agreed a contract with new Spanish team, Campos Meta.

Senna, nephew of three-times world champion Ayrton, who was killed in an accident in the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, had hoped to be racing in the championship this year but saw a potential seat with Honda disappear after they withdrew from the sport.

However, the 26-year-old has now secured his drive for the 2010 season and is thrilled with the opportunity.

"I'm absolutely delighted to fulfil a lifetime's dream," Senna stated via his Twitter page.

"After many weeks of hard work and negotiations, me and my management finally made it.

"I'm very happy and I'd like to share this moment with you. Now it's time to focus and work hard in preparation for next season.

"Lots of hard work to come and, hopefully a great starting point.

"Now it is time to set new targets. The project Campos Meta have developed is designed to succeed both on and off track."

Campos CEO Enrique Rodriguez de Castro was delighted to have clinched the services of last year's GP2 runner-up and said: "It is a great pleasure to welcome Bruno to the team.

I glad Rubens get a drive but i hope they paying him and not just feeding de man ah food Confused

No refueling next season will be very strange, these cars burn fuel so fast that i wonder if the drivers gonna be sitting on a big tank with wheels. Wouldn't this put the driver at an even great risk for fire in the event of a big accident?
Would be interesting to see how and if car design is affected as a result of no refueling.
