Was chilling down in Skinner's Park over the weekend and I was looking at the track thinking that it would be cool to have a Caribbean, oval, endurance karting event, like 50 laps, 100 laps or something like that. with pit crews and the works like a mini nascar! I'm not into karting but i like the sport! what ya'll think?

Duane 3NE 2NR, I visit the carters site from time to time, and they have spoken about how they have run circular tracks before.

I am sure they would run elsehwere if they wanted to.
The karting club received a sizable subvention from the ministry of sport on July 21st firming up the support the ministry has for the sport.
With the karting club reconfiguring their track this week at ARC I am sure their collective hearts are more into this style of circuit and calling ARC home than elsewhere.
I know that they will eventually get a dedicated track in the longer term.

as far as a caribbean oval racing:
The track in Jamaica where most of caribbean would go to compete regionally is not oval - I think this is the kind of track most karters have their kart and gearing set up for.

Click for full-size.

Palisadoes International Raceway
Kingston, Jamaica

much more exciting than oval racing IMO

I hope you are kidding when you say you rate it like F1
Surprised
It just doesn't appeal to much people outside of the USA.
There is nothing in my view exciting about it, ugly cars..ugly paint schemes..for the most part they race in an oval turning left.who wants to sit and watch cars go in a circle?
F1, Le Mans, JGTC now that is racing.

yes it on reclaimed land and is a beautiful track, that can be configured for different types of circuit racing, least not forget that they also have a dedicated drag racing facility in westmoreland , and racing tracks that are used in vernam field and dover.

And how many do we have ?

I was there at the last carting event and noticed a safety incident that may have been looked at for the next event.
One of the shifter carts race, a guy lost his sterring control around the bend closer to the east end of the track and turned and ran straight into a crowd of people standing watching the race. Everyone was able to get out of his way, but it could have been a disaster had someone not seen him in time.
Would hate to see the event scared by an injury to a spectator.

^ the people standing there were not supposed to be there - that is not a spectator area since the return lane is right there.

all motorsport is dangerous and accidents will happen.
I agree with you that safety should always be first - I am always impressed though by the safety put in place by the TTKA

Duane dont get me wrong, i agree people shouldnt be standing there, because in fact he did turn the car into the retun lane.
That corner is the closest to the spectators and maybe they should ask people not to stand too close to the retun lane. We all want to get as close as possible to the action not thinking of "what if"

I am unsure and unconcerned really. I could not care less it were the dons of the many garrisons around old Kingston and across Jamaica or the Jamaican national network of knitting . The fact remains that real racing takes place

Not kidding Maserati its all autosports to me i may not be a racing aficionado like yourself but i rate it the same as F1, Le Mans, JGTC! yeah they have more drama in the track with the turns but its still driver against driver, team against team, manufacturer against manufacturer!!
So what if its a sport in the states,
I mean i like american football and soccer and don't have a problem watching new zealand battle south africa in a good game of rugby should i hate on it cause the rules different? The player are not known worldwide! I like the art of sports what ever it may be and maybe going in a circle may not be cool but when you watchin a 500 lap daytona and say 99 laps to go and tires wear and tear and you just start to see cars flying into the air in stupifying crashes hey i call that good tv!

they were built by ppl with an interest in racing in JA
you as a racer are equally to blame for there not being a track in T&T then
