Yes the engine makes 125 bhp....or "crank" hp. But there are losses when going to through the transmission / axles etc etc.
So at the wheels (or on a dyno), they put out about 100 whp.
Similarly, a 300 hp BMW 135i might put out only about 270 or so at the wheels (or 270 whp). |

| ^^ correct, surprisingly enough tho knight1 the ignis sport showed much less losses through the drivetrain than the swift sports.....my car is rated at 107bhp and it put out 97whp.....compared to the swift sports that put out 103whp on the same dyno. |

^^Were those cars auto or manual? Auto = more drivetrain loss to start with.
Well, from what I've read on the UK forums and the Swiftclubsg forums, the M15A in the HT81S pulls some timing on <98 RON octane...but not that much, so you guys still make close to the OEM spec-ed hp.
The M16A apparently pulls a little more timing supposedly as the engine / ECU is bit more sensitive to knock (not sure why....maybe the HT81 has a lower compression ratio???? Not sure), so the M16A's net bhp on 95RON may well be only 110-115...but definitely less than the 125 to start with....hence implying the lower than expected whp values. |

same compresion ratio's ......doh study chris ...non of us own HT81S....we all have HV81S .......
same everything except the ecu .... the jdm spec ignis (swift sport) sport is a whole different story |

Orrrrrrr.........so wait......allyuh car detuned or something? The HT81S is supposed to be hardcore Maybe the HV's handle the lower octane a little better than the HT's?
The local series 2 SS's are about *that* close to a JDM spec "std" Swift Sport (remember they are sold in two trims in Japan....basic/std like what we get with red trim and manual air-con, and the Limited version with HID's, digital aircon, gray recaros).
There're only two versions of the series 2 SS's......the Export and JDM...both have slightly different rear bumpers (license plate recess). The local cars have the one off the JDM car |

HT81S is rated at 115bhp while the cars that we all have here are HV81S.....which is slightly de-tuned to 107bhp. Ignorant......i never said we had Ht81S......
All the swift sports were manual and everyone was on 95octane. And the compression ratios are the same for HV81S, HT81S and the swift sports..... |

^^Well then all that means is that the original theory on the SG forums is probably correct:

the swift sport had greater drive train losses due to more rotational mass.
bigger clutch, pressure plate and flywheel. |

^^^that's correct Ignorant.
And I say we try to organise another dyno day before years-end. This time, men should run NOS Racing Formula Octane booster!
...I'm chipped now (moar fuelz and RPM's!!!!!), it's a definately pulling harder, so let's see what the N/A G13B does to Garth's rollers! |
