i think that the JBL GTi subs are the best all round subs out there, they are extremely efficient, will take you out with the lows in a ported box, and are feafly accurate in a sealed box.

I own 2 10" and love them alot, also i heard 2 12" and i want to own those rell soon.
but all in due time.

I wanna get my hands on a audiopulse axis though, i think i might like it. If i had to trade my subs i would go with those.

i got quite close to buying a GTi 12" once! those are some awesome subs!

The most versatile subs I've heard was a pair of JL 10w6v2s in Nigel's vigo. It sounded like a different sub for every different song. I think this is what richie is trying to get from the topic. It wasn't the best SQ sub I heard, nor the best street beater sub I heard, nor the best gallery sub I heard, but it did every thing very very well.

How come I eh hear Kicker and Earthquake jumpin up in here? Confused

I would have to go with the JL Audio as well -12W3V2 (D2).

After having used 2x8" Pinoeer impp (first version), then 1x10" Audiopipe TXX. Which - I wasn't dissapointed in these either - worked well enough for the money.

The JL really does not require a huge box - was a bit on the pricey side when I bought ($1100) but that was about 5 years ago. I recently changed the coils, suspension and surround - and it still going strong. Running on 1 coil at 2ohm, and being fed by a Zapco competition amp, supposedly 400Wrms @ 2ohm. Very versatile. SQ to me sounds great. XO at 120Hz at 24dB I think Rolling Eyes

Old school fellas would remember the following though:
Subs: MB Quart, JL Audio, Rockford Fosgate, Image Dynamics
Amps: Sherwood, Zapco, Hifonics, Orion

JBL, MTX and Kicker seemed to fare well too back in the day.

Then everybody started making everything. But I stuck to the originals for what they were known for. Although, now it seems that some companies who have crossed over (pardon the pun Laughing ) into other lines have good products all around - JL, RF and Alpine comes to mind.
