Guys,

I spoke to Rene briefly on this topic (see http://forums.trinituner.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=260185) and we discussed having a day set aside, where everyone can attend a central venue to test amp output and input voltage, i.e. input voltage, output amperage, output voltage. If we can get another decent clamp meter we can measure input amperage as well to calculate amplifier efficiency too.

We will NOT be testing clipping or unclipped output as we don't have an oscilloscope.
This test will give an idea of the output power of amplifiers and we'll test SPL as well in the person's setup.

Date: November 1st (don't want to mess with people's systems before MK Finals)
Venue: Central
Result: Output Amplifier Power at a given input voltage, with corresponding Termlab SPL reading of your system
What you need to bring: Your (entire) system such that we can access the amplifier terminals and the speaker wires going from the amps to the subs.
Cost: Assume about a $20 cost for SPL meter rental per person. (I have to confirm this cost)

Please reply in this thread if you are interested and the amplifier(s) you will be bringing to test.

Regards,
Jonathan

It doesn't have to be an SPL monster amp, or even a monoblock.
Once its connected to a subwoofer that can handle a burp from that amp, it can be tested via the above method.

Ok, good responses so far, but keep the sheit talk outta the thread please.

For the non-ICE club members, as with all other ICE Club activities, the location will be emailed to each person who is interested and NOT publicly posted. This is a security measure that is actually meant to protect all the attendees...by refraining from publicly posting where and when their equipment and themselves will be.

Also, please post the amplifiers you will be bringing, as we will get a better idea of the 'classes' of amplifiers we'll be testing.

Team 2lo2flo will be walking with the following amps to test:
Incriminator Audio 20.1
Stetsom 2k5d
Stetsom 7kd
Stetsom 7k2d
Zapco Studio 500
provided we get a good electrical system.

If interested, you can use my electrical setup.. I can safely accommodate up to 2200Wrms amplifiers in my system and have 0 gauge wiring in place.

If someone can have an easily accessible system that they can disconnect the power wire so we can use it as a test bed for other amps to get consistent results and also so ppl could bring amps alone so they can be tested...

Folks, these costs are for the SPL meter costs only. If you want to test power output alone, there is NO cost.

Termlab SPL Meter rental price is confirmed at $20 per person. Each person is allowed 3 tries at the meter. You are allowed up to two different amps to test under the SPL meter for the same $20.

If you need to take additional tries at the meter for some reason, pay $10 for three (3) more tries, instead of paying $20 again.

Again, these costs are for SPL testing only.
If you want POWER OUTPUT tests only, that is free.
