I just thought i would create a thread listing some of the more common rules that can be misunderstood by competitors in in the IDBL lanes.

ROOKIE CLASS

Competitors must play music from an ORIGINAL cd. The bass boxing tracks on the IASCA idbl cd could be used as well. Test tones ARE NOT ALLOWED

One run of power and ground wire (0 Gauge) is allowed from battery to amplifier.

Port Area is limited to 14 sq inches of port PER subwoofer. PVC pipes ARE NOT ALLOWED. Store bought Aero-ports are allowed

Quad coil woofers ARE NOT ALLOWED in the rookie class.

Page number IDBL 20-22 in rule book

ALL OTHER IDBL CLASSES

Competitors can use any Original CD for testing, whether it maybe IASCA max db2,3, or any approved commercially available media.

OEM Factory seals and gaskets must be in place on all panels. For older vehicles, if the OEM factory replacement is not available, an aftermarket equivalent maybe used. As in the case of the Cortina that competes locally

IF the vehicle's SPL Score exceeds 150 DB, the source unit must be operated from the outside of the vehicle. However, discretion is given to competitors who are borderline (150-151DB) and who cross the mark for the first time.

Batteries mounted in the stock OEM location must be properly clamped.

Forms need to be properly filled out and SIGNED before driving up to test. Too much time is lost because of this.

Feel free to ask any questions, myself or any of the other IASCA judges will try to assist.

A Copy of the 2009 IASCA rules can be dowloaded on this link

IDBL Software use..

Quote:
SOFTWARE
• Competitors may use any approved commercially available media. IASCA considers CD as its main media format for
use in competition; alternate media (such as MP3) may also be used in competition if the event host offers it. For a detailed
explanation on what is considered “Alternate Media”, go to page SQ-4 “Software Use in IASCA Competition” in the rule
book.

SQ-4
How do I compete with an Alternate Source Unit or an Alternate Media?

Most IASCA Judges and Event Promoters will have their own Alternate Source Units or Alternate Media to use in IASCA
competition.
Competitors who wish to compete with either must use a unit supplied by the IASCA judges to compete; competitors cannot
use their own device. Competitors must remove their device from the system and use the one supplied by the judges. The
judge’s device will only contain the music from the IASCA CD, recorded at the highest quality possible recording level (MP3
files will be downloaded at a rate of 320 kb/s at a constant bit rate to all Alternate Media and Alternate Source Units).

is it possible for you guys to provide Ipod or mp3 tones at shows?

Just another thing i like to add , when we have our shows guys got disqualified in bass boxing because the Judge could not hear enough vocals.

If you have less than 14 sq inches of port per woofer, you maybe considered for rookie 1 class, once the rest of your system fits the description.

until i receive an ipod or a mem stick issued by iasca with the acceptable version for competition i am afraid we will be using original cd's for all competitons

as this will have an effect on official scores as well as WR scores

SR, Any communication with head office on if / when we'll be obtaining this? I don't think that they need to send a mem stick or the ipod, but merely supply the converted media.

All vehicles in the IdBL Rookie Division must remain OEM stock. External and internal aftermarket add-ons such as body
kits, wings, wheels, aftermarket seats, steering wheels or any automotive related cosmetic and performance items not
related to the vehicle’s 12 volt electrical system are allowed.

taken from IDBL-10

just forcing this fact since we ran into problems with this already! Arrow

this was his response to my question about the use of MP3 tones.. Idea

i really would like the ability to use MP3s for SPL because of the many advantages it offers.. faster read times, less CD skips etc..

also, the rules clearly state the criteria on how the tones are to be converted etc so there shouldn't be any differences between using them and CDs..
