are they good enough to do away with my current xover?

the current one has 2 pairs of inputs (for front & rear from the HU) & 3 pairs for output front, rear & sub (5v)

my new HU has front, rear & sub out, I have the x-over hooked up to the sub out from the deck for the time being (only getting 1v extra line drive as opposed to if I using the deck alone that has 4v).

will it make sense to do away with that x-over & use the deck alone?

I might consider gettin an x-over with 3 pair in & 3 pair out later on if anything.

they good enough if you don't have a crossover, but not good enough to not use a good cross if you have it.

what kind of cross is it?

if you're just using the sub out into the cross for the line drive, the extra 1v doesn't make much difference.

why not use all the inputs since its already installed? that way you get a bit more control

i only sell decks & dont really do installs so i dont have plenty experience with d 5100UB - have played around with it a little , does have some nice features for its price range

i have a 3 yr old premier 860 , never give any problems & if 1 day i feel to change it d 800prs wud be my choice for a current model hu unless something better comes along ....

(...Rovin...), you understand the point i'm making though.

even though its a 3yr old deck, it still if from the premier line and one of the higher models.

also the changes in the lower lines over the years have not been that groundbreaking, so in essence you still have a much better deck than his to be making that kinda of comparision

though the 5100UB and 6000UB are the only low models with a independant 7band graphic eq eh and trust me it does make a difference with the other models

all the others while may hav more features and functions they come with the lame normal 3 band, bass, mid, treble

ur deck has i believe 13bands eq,
3way xo where u can set the RCA's bass, mid, high
not to mention the 24bit burr brown business

if daz the cross u hav then use it,besides the line drive u will get more control over your speakers the deck is good but not better than the cross.i hav a 780mp wit 16band eq and active 3way cross and still usin a external cross.that kicker cross is a very good cross it shud help keep your music alot cleaner

after I get the issue with the +tive wire sorted out i'll bypass the xover & see how much of a difference it makes.

anyone know of a resonably prices xover with front rear & sub input & front rear & sub output?
I looking at the clarion but too much to fiddle with on that, tuning might be an issue, less equipment = easier to tune. if push comes to shove I guess it will be the clarion but I am open to other options.

#bump

xover on these decks not so hott, I run it straight to the amp & the bass sounds like the sub in a barrel. Confused
it sounds scrappy & more bang bang than boom boom, a lot of the smothness & lower frequency response missing.

I can no longer feel the bass more than I hear it, songs like gloria estafan's turn the beat around & madonna's like a prayer not sounding so hot anymore (alot of bass missing), flo rider elevator & danity kane's showstopper booming & rattling the whole car unlike before where the bass was less boomy & smoother, a bit more high frequency bass comes through to the sub.

the crossovers on the lower end pios decks don't have a steep enough slope especially for subwoofer application.

the highpass work alright though, tested it on stock speakers.
