|
|
I want to build a small house audio system but i am having a problem.
this is how its hooked up
I am using my laptop a a source, to a marantz pre amp to a sound shaper equaliser to a pyramid pa 3000w amp ..and i am not getting the desired output...
if i use my dvd player as a source i get a little more power.
i can play a 200w tweeter with the volume all the way up no matter if ii use the laptop or dvd player as my source why?
that tweeter supposed to fry!
why am i not getting proper output? |

Any peak light or needles on amp to give idea of output?
What spk you have connected and how are they configured on amp?
Don't expect anything great from pyramid(if their build quality is the same as car audio) |

| The voltage output of a headphone jack is too low. |

not necessarily, I'm running my virtual DJ off my PC to a 30 band eq to my Sherwood S-7100A powering 2 Sony SS-MB150H and 2 Sansui SPX9700, and it jams, ji123 check each component particularly the pre-amp and amp individually to ensure they're working well |

sound like there is a short to ground so all the signal running to ground and the amp just picking up faint piece of it along with hum/noise
double check the cable from the laptop
they are notorious for getting damged due to flexing when moving laptop etc
try removing pieces and start with as short a setup as possible
eg laptop straight into a car amp then speakers |

and honestly i prefer to go by someone and test again someone who knows about music and the problems i am having ...so i would know exactly what to buy and not just get ideas and they aint really going nowhere.. i want sound proof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i am from central ... |

firstly try a different source and see if it makes a difference eg. a stereo etc
if the problem still persists then u will know its one of your components. then try with stereo and amp alone. it should sound louder but if not then the amp is your problem |

Nothing is wrong with your source and chain of equipment, that seems OK. Try bypassing the EQ and see if output directly from the pre-amp is higher.
Using the DVD player gives you more line drive it seems. With a more powerful signal the system seems louder. You should have been able to boost a weak signal with the pre-amp though.
Your test is a tweeter? What is the min. playing impedance of the pyramid? The tweeter alone may be 8-ohm minimum and fluctuating impedance over different freq. If your EQ is set to limit bass into the tweeter channel then nothing weird is happening.
You cannot check your power output by trying to blow a tweeter.
I have run systems like yours for years and never had problems. I have noticed different line drives off different PCs but the pre-amp is in place to correct this. |

Try sending the laptop directly into the amp and test with a speaker other than a tweeter....if nothing then it most likely is the amp...get it checked out by a technician.
If it plays at acceptable power, then add the pre-amp into the circuit and test again.
Then disconnect the pre-amp and jack in the eq.
You should send the pre-amp into the amp though, not the eq. |
