i know to an extent ford and mazda share the same technology and (dare i say it...the same engine in later models) but does anyone know if they share the same brakes set up?

yes, as far as the Euro Ford Focus and Mazda 3 goes its the same AFAIK. Some components were also lifted from the Volvo parts bin......so the MazdaSpeed 3 got its brakes from the Volvo S60R. The Euro Focus we have does not share the same engine and transmission though.......its the USDM version that has a Mazda engine, transmission and the Euro version has Mazda suspension and platform.

ok cool thanks...i was looking to see if it could have fitted on my car but i got the sport setup anyway...but thanks none the less
