i am thinking about getting the swift 1.5 but after reading online reviews the sport looks like the way to go.

should i put out the extra expense?.............speed doesn't matter much to me.........but the sport also has better handling, body kit etc........

If you can afford it, then the Swift Sport is DEFINITELY the better buy. Apart from the better handling and body kit, if you're not interested in going faster, there are other more compelling reasons to buy the Sport.

If speed doesn't matter to you, then safety should. Bigger brakes (4 wheel disc) enable you to stop sooner and more consistently, and more airbags (the brochure says 8 airbags Shocked ) vs. 2 for the base model help ensure less injury to passengers in the event of an accident.

Also, the more powerful engine doesn't necessarily only mean more speed, but can also be a safety feature in the event you need to get out of trouble quickly - nice to know in these times we live in.

These should be enough to make you choose the sport over the base model (again, once you can afford it).

Also read a couple reviews online that the Sport model has Electronic Stability Control as standard equipment, although I don't remember seeing/hearing this from any of the promotional material from Lifestyle motors.

Let us know how your test drive on Saturday goes, and your impressions.

Lifestyle brings the 'base' Sport here... so no ESP, HID, climate control or Recaro's. The sales guy I spoke to thinks they're available as options, but he couldn't categorically confirm that.

Still an impressive machine tho Cool

Well staying with the cars you named (cause there are others like the Mazda 3, Ford Focus, Corolla, etc) I think each has some positives... the SX4 has a unique look, so if you wanna stand out from the crowd its a good choice. The Tiida I imagine would have the cheapest running costs because its coming RORO already. I'm not sure which Lancer you're referring to... if its the 2005 CS model which still comes new then that too would have cheap running costs cause of the age of the design. However the base model 08 Lancer (which is the only one in this price range) is absolute rubbish IMO. Not a single airbag, no ABS, hub caps... its not worth its 140K price at all. I actually told a sales rep they shud be ashamed to sell a car like that in 2008, and worse yet at that price... she had no response! My only beef with the Fit is its price (seems to be an Ansa Automotive thing), but it drives well and somehow is magically very spacious considering how compact it is. The Fit would also be the most fuel efficient since its smaller, lighter and has a 1.4 engine, instead of a 1.6
