Get the music tuned professionally, most likely your cross over points are off.

Why don't you keep trying to tune it to your ears?

Start with all your EQs flat and adjust from there. What do you mean your bass sounds 'off'?

If you mean not smooth as in its response is 'punchier' in some bands and lacking in others that could be due to any bass boost applied in the system such as by raising low frequency bands.

take ur time & read it over a few times

why u using a cross if amps have its own filters ?

since u new : to be on d safe side u shud have ur SSF set just below d tuning of d box & lpf is like d highest freq u want it to play but its usually at 80hz for most daily sets , SQ men will have it set alot lower because their front speakers will be playing midbass

so basically u setting d operating freq range u want from ur sub...

shiva.ramroopsingh, Look at the IASCA site and download a copy of the rules. Read the SQ judging part of it to get an idea of what is listened for when a vehicle is judged. If you have any questions there's more than enough people on the board who can help you.
