| Friend have a 101 corolla 1.6 carb. He uses shell 25-50. When the oil is about 4000km old the car requires a slight top up of oil. When the oil is brand new <4000km no oil top up is needed. Millage 206000km. Is this a sign of the engine going through? Or what can be done to prevent this? |

| a bit of oil comsumption is pretty normal actually...how much consumption depends on the engine's design and age/health...if u only NOW need to top up at 4000km then you're in pretty good condition before your 5000km change interval anyway...even so, at +206,000km that's commendable |

| ^^^I would agree.....a slight top up at 4k isn't bad considering the mileage..... |

| it pays to change your oil on time.. i'm doing over 240,000kms on the Vitara and the engine barely burns any oil over the 5000kms.. at most it might drop 1/3 way between the upper and lower marks on the dip stick.. |
