is there any way to repair the threading where the oil filter screws on to the engine?

old filter was leaking and when I replaced it with a new one, I felt it go slack when hand tightening. the filter is not getting tight enough to hold a seal. leak got worse after changing the filter. leaking too heavy to drive.

car is a K12 march. cant see if the filter block can be removed. I believe that it has the same engine as the cube.

correct filter was used.

EDIT:

Problem turned out to be the filter. my dad went to get a new filter and the guy at the parts place told him that other costumers were having similar problems with the Fram filters. the only filters available for the car was the fram and sakura, so he bought both.

took some measurements from the filters:
used purolator L14612 bore diameter .731"
sakura C-1823 .731"
Fram PH6607 .734"

Click for full-size.

this is the old fram filter that was hand tightened (with oily hands). you can see where the threading is damaged. it looks like when the filter was put on only the edges of the threads were holding, and the oil pressure caused the filter to move enough to damage the threads.

used the sakura on the car, engine ideling and reving high with no leaks.

The filter screws on to the oil pump. Your cannot repair the treat but you can replace the oil pump with a used one. Try a different brand of filter with the same bore, but with the treading on the oil filter starting closer to the seal, like purulator L4459 instead of the Sakura 1823.If that does not work, look for an oil pump.

FRAM fails again. at least at properly matching your engine.
but due to how quickly it's bypass opens, why do people purchase it?

tried it once, changed it out after a couple hours and never again used it.....was causing excessive lifter noise (oil flow/pressure being restricted by the filter), went back to the sakura and all was well immeditely.

you said you changed it out after a couple hours so you didn't figure out the problem immediately...
How did you know it was the filter?
Thanks.

^^i can speak for the SR engines here

the fram media is a bit denser than others, which is good and bad, and in my experience, the chain rattle was longer with the fram than the purolator

Fram failed me once and cost me two bottles of royal purple.
Previous Fram filter oil seal ring came off and while screwing
up new filter not knowing the seal was there caused oil to
escape.

Same problem happend to my friend while changing his
oil, costing him 1 gal castrol syntec.

because when I usually changed oil and used a sakura filter there was hardly ever (if any at all) lifter noise......the only thing that was different at that oil change was the fram filter....spoke to the mech about the lifter noise and he suggested that the fram tends to restrict the oil flow...and thus contributing to noisy lifters.......so I said to myself, well fram is supposed to be a big (brands up) company, the filter is supposed to be technologically good, let me run the car and see if the noise will quieten down eventually..........but it didn't and so a couple hours afterwards, I bought the usual sakura, changed out the fram and had immediate silencing of lifter noise.......

my last car (gdi galant) had plagued me with lifter noise until I came upon an oil/filter combo that kept it quiet........my oil changes were monthly due to the commute......so I'm just stating my experience.

that was then...now is strictly oem in this car....
