Hmm so like Earthquake is making inroads again in the car audio scene.. I will see if I could pass through later today and check out the demo car once it is still there.
I wonder what box specs they are running for the DBXi subs to get the sub to sound alot better than what the factory box specs give ?

How long before tsunami after earthquake happens? An earthquake struck in Japan and a tsunami is expected. What is the length of time between the earthquake and the tsunami?

your typical high end sub might have an Xmax of 15 - 25mm. Ultra high end subs, like the insane Audiopulse LMS Ultra is 38mm and RE XXX is 54mm..

Xmax is a linear one way movement..

Xmech is the total mechanical movement..

big difference..

Baised on the speaker specs what you guy think about it ? It plays killer lows in a 2.o cubic ft. box with no epi needed. With the epi installed it sounds like your vehicle is gonna cave in.

if you need an epi to get lows, you have much to learn yet

i've seen the kit for this speaker, the coil isn't all that hot in terms of quality

I never said I need the epi to get lows.. Just using the epi to go lower that's all. Without the epi it's maddness .... with the epi it's vehicular destruction.

Those T/S parameters can't be correct.

1. Qts is always lower than Qes. Those specs have Qes lower than Qts
2. If that Xmax was right, that driver's cone should have 7" of usable through - hardly likely.

I suspect that Qts has been mistakenly swapped with Qes, and the Xmax figure can be safely ignored.

I'd suggest checking your box's Fb first. It may be tuned too high. For what you want to get Fb should 35 Hz or lower.

finally a man on tuner that understands dred, an epi is make the work of a difference in your bass, i dont think that there is any way to make a sub sound like an epi is being used if there isnt one.

BTW: Audiocontrol FTW,
earthquake aright too, i was by electromania today and they was playing the lancer or some there and it sound rell nice. i think is like 2 12" dbxi that have.

Was this a lancer wagon or a Cedia ( fancy dark paint that flip colors ) ?

Yeah the first man that I saw use one of these was Troy from Groundcontrol.. Then Ballz showed me how to adjust the low end so that when the epi is used hormonic fq start to pound the earth Laughing

Lawd so is back to squrare one then ? Why will Earthquake put up incorrect specs on their sub then.. are they hiding something ?

You're talking like Earthquake is the only company that does that Smile

In this case, I think they simply mixed up Qts and Qes, and in fact if you calculate Qts using a Qes of 0.5 and the given value for Qms, you get 0.451.

The quoted Xmax figure though is likely way off - probably confused with Xmech as previously suggested.

BTW - don't forget that these are SMALL SIGNAL parameters, and even if the manufacturer's published values are correct, when more power is applied to the driver, the parameters will shift, in some cases by quite a bit. So, when last you drove your car audio subwoofer with only 1W? Smile.
