Just as the topic says.. This is thread is not to turn into a bickerin session for the bored folks.
How well do they play compared to brands in it's class. Are they underrated and can seriously take the jam from a 1000rms amp ? |

all i know is that they are great low bass subs, but cannot handle anything more than 750RMS under a serious amp, 2000rms from 2 crossfire vr1000d is kinda hard for them to handle, they cannot take all the power from those amps.
But they do get rell loud and low.
3 stage i think that they cost like 1000 for the 12". |

Price is $1400 for the Dual 4ohm 12". Sale price is presently $1200. I don't know if the price will be lowered for Christmas. I heard a Subaru Forester Wagon with a pair of 12's and it was dam well impressive. I thought the guy was runnnig 2 15's. The amp he was using on the pair was 2 Orion 1000.1 amps. ( I can't remember the model number though ) |

i not sure if anyone went to that show they was having a while back in sien park or some, but my cousin was in that SPEEDLAB right up on all ah de cars. Well he was runnin 4 12" DBXi on 2000rms from a pair of vr1000d and the 4 12s coulda barely take it. And gain eh crank or NE thing so, everything set as it should be,
hadda say though that was the loudest low bass i ever hear. but it wasnt as low as meh 2 10s. |

I bought the sub just to experiment with it a bit to see what it realy is capable of. I hooked it up on a DHD Amp 3120 model ( 750rms @ 2ohms this is what the specs sheet read ) And for the power I was stunned a bit. Nice deep lows and the DHD amp gain was @ 1/4. The box it was placed in ( don't know the tunning fq. ) helped the sub achieve very nice deep lows and played higher sub fq realy nice. For a cheep a$$ speaker I may just keep it and add an epi to the system and adjust the fq for some more lows.
Anywayz I haven't been in the audio scene for the past 5 years so I would like to hear more from the Music Gurus out there. What was stated above is just my novice opinion. |

if anyonw went car craft in center of excellence last night, you woulda see the whole electromania click around a 280c with 4 15" DBXi powered by a atomic 3000.1. That bassline was rell loud and deviously low boi, the man that build the car tell me he goin and drop a next 3000.1 on them almost quadrupling the power that they receiving now but i doubt they go stand up to that stress.
Guess i will just have to wait and see. |

I would say the alpine type-r is in its class
The Earthquake has a sensitivity rating of 87db while the Alpine is 85db
The Earthquake as an xmax of 27.94mm while the Alpine has an xmax of 18.2mm. Both are rated for 1500watts peak. Therefore i believe that the Earthquake should play louder, however i could be wrong. |

comparing the 2 sets i have heard with these 2 subs i would put my last dollar on the alpine's ability to take power and get louder. And i could state for a fact that the earthquake will drop lower no questions about it, i am 100% certain of this.
The earthquakes will not burn if you drop about 300rms more on them eh but they will heat up faster than the alpines at the same power level, and heat leads to impedance rise and a loss of power output among other things.
So for lowass dread bassline, earthquake FTW
for a louder bass Alpine FTW. |

Hey I need to get a box for this sub.. the fq I am getting with the box built close to the factory spec box is tuned a bit too high for my taste.. Any idea what is the ideal spec enclosure that I can use to play low fq around 33hz and as high as around 42hz. |

nah boi i not sayin the alpine is for a loud bass, but louder than the earthquake bass for sure, could be because the man with the earthquakes was runnin an epicenter with a 40hz low pass. And the alpines was without epicenter and a 63hz low pass.
but chiney on power taking capability which one you think better the alpine ent. |

hmm bad comparison, cuz different tuning and operating environments..
but the alpine can take power as well as the earthquake.
box and tuning ( installation ) is EVERYTHING.. dats where knowledge/experience wud factor in. |
