^^ok ok ok. We don't really have any drift sessions until we have an official practice day ,i.e. we don't really want any illegal drifting on the road so we try to do it in a safe environment.
If you have a safe environment to practice on your own, 1st make sure that you've checked and rechecked your car. Noteworthy items are oil which is important as the g-forces make the engine starve for it; loose stuff in you trunk; handbrake is properly working and adjusted so that you're not pulling the handle all the way to your chest to get it to work; tyre pressure, harder tyres break away easier and more progressively.
Start with a cone and just try getting accustomed to your h/brake; 90 degree turns andsuch. When your accustomed to the breaking away of the rear end, the next step is driving out of that situation...so after you pull the h/brake and slid the car 90 degrees, correct the slide and drive off.
One step at a time, don't rush it.
And have fun with it

You can still drift a stock car though I've seen my friend do it and he's pretty good. Just not as well

you'll spin your tyres but everytime u back off the gas and u hit the gas again...u'll have to wait for the torque convertor to lock up befoe you get enough power to the wheels. In other words, the car will drift initially but as u throttle modulate therein somes the problem.
A clutch will come in handy to break the rear tires loose whenever u need to.
Also spinning out will put a load on your tranny unlike no other. It simply won't last with that jammin.

How to Drift an Automatic:

- Feint drift... do a weight transition... and give it some throttle

- Power Over.... turn hard... floor it... or give it alot of gas.. have fun

- E-Brake.... turn the car... wait for the car to actually turn.. and pull up the Ebrake until the back end slides out.. and give it throttle.

There is noting wrong with the E-Brake in an Automatic car. With a manual transmission.. you put in the CLUTCH disengaging the transmission from the ENGINE.

However, with an automatic transmission, the transmission is always disengaged from the engine and is never directly connected. Rather the torque converter allows the movement of the engine to transfer to the transmission.

When you pull up on the eBrake on an automatic transmission... your torque converter simply is still in use like it always is and doesn't put any strain on the engine.. except for the ability to push the driveshaft from the differential due to the pressure of the tires going sideways.

Puts your engine in a little bit more work.. but still works.. and doesn't damage it. It will however damage it over time... but hell... everything damages something over time. The wear is much less than an standard transmission.. due to the engagements from the clutch.. when you slam the throttle down and dump the clutch.

How do I know this? I have been drifting my Automatic 280Z now for over a year.

he seems to have no torque converter probs Razz

I drifted a local Lancer Wagon (one of the old ones......the evo 2-3 model lancer or...well the libero wagons)around the island down Cross Crossing already. The road was slightly wet. I took it wide, pulled the e-brake, it fishtailed and i threw it in low gear and mashed out and the car drifted arould the island Shocked
The tranmission went through the next week and the timing belt buss soon after we replaced the transmission Laughing
