i wonder if it is because the panel semi-seals the holes and so on to simulate a box.. ??
lol
why u think ppl use dampening materials to seal off their door panels and so forth bro? |

yep i noticed it !
very 1st time i changed my stock speakers & hooked up my new set of infinity comps i was like with d results .....but when i put back on d door upholstery i = ...makes a BIG difference ....even with other installs i did too i noticed it ...so u really cant judge d performance of a pair of door speakers til u put back up everything complete & dial it in .....  |

| I not sure, b/c the door is well damped and sealed enough. Just as you hang the panel the tone changes. |

| There are many gaps that the door card will cover when put back on. There's a huge gap at the top of the door where the sealers/window guide goes. When I tested mine without the door card, is only breeze passing there and hardly any audible low end. |

ohh! u mean AFTER u dampen and then put on the door panel.. well yeh.that is true..
like jon said. there are some tiny holes that the panel covers up and more or less seals up nicely.. |

| fuh real!!! i installed 4 earthquakes 6" midrange drivers - 4 ohm version. two on front doors, two on back dash, all off a powerful 4 channel in stereo. when doors are open the door speakers outperform my backdash for quality and loudness. installer told me that was cuz of the doors acting as enclosure for the drivers |
