Really depends on your vehicle and driving style.
I USE the ABS on the EVO though. Especially in the finish box.
 |
so having abs in dex does give an advantage??? |

| Boy, I really can't say nah. I think if there was no ABS, I would adapt. Let of the brakes when I feel I losing traction and starting to skid. You would have to compare the times of identical cars, with the only difference being ABS. |

I don't have ABS and I've noticed from experience that if I make a mistake or enter a corner too fast I'll slide or run off.
But I've seen ABS cars enter too fast and manage to save with brake lights all through the corner.
I have also seen other non-ABS cars enter and exit corners just as fast as the ABS cars.
Just a matter of experience and driving style I guess. |

sigh......
rs2's have ABS
RS's don't have abs
salty evo is rs - no abs
crix evo rs2 - abs
i have to say when i had the civic and was competiung against ignis, i had no abs and he had. i was still competitive and won two years in a row es champion.
so yes non abs cars can be very very competitive, u just need to learn your brakign limits.
what i found helpfull to stop in teh finihs box is not stomp on teh pedal and skate to a stop, but to mash hard to your breaking treashold and when it starts to skate, release a little and mash hard again. look at it as manual abs just MUCH slower.
that stops your car much faster.
mg man you could try that it may help
with the evo i only engauge abs in the box |

| I do believe MG Man refers to that technique as "poor man's ABS". |

| Some years ago, I was talking with a couple of "retired" amateur racing drivers and they spoke of this technique in braking. One even told me of his preference for this over an ABS system. His first experience of ABS was in his son's car (a Civic I think it was) and the end result was his parking the car on the highway and going home in a taxi, letting his son know where the car was by phone for the boy to fetch it. ( They also told me of a bit of fun they used to do in wallerfield in the late 50's with cones and a stopwatch, and they referred to it as "dexterity racing"...) |

very thin line there ....... braking distances become shorter with better tires.
so it's not all about brakes. |
