no comparison here, you are compairing one company's highest line of ferrite driver(rcf) to the midline of another(selinium)

the rcf has by far a better tonal flat respone

i can agree about the flat freq response.. but tonal accuracy is a different thing..

i doubt there are any tonally accurate compression drivers..

Don't forget about older lines of comp drivers from image dynamics, usd, crystal etc who made comp drivers specifically for sound quality reproduction. Wink

^ Surprised learn something new..

this might be a dumb question, but are any of the modern comp drivers SQ oriented, or kinda close to SQ oriented? (i'm not talking about a flat response, but more tonal accuracy..)

Well I know image dynamics still makes them, they are expensive tho.
Balls was bringing out a sound Q car with horns, but I never saw that materialized.
Comp drivers from what I read require good processing, so that needs to be considered as well. The lifelike dynamics of those comp drivers cannot be beaten!

good processing is all about setting your crossovers and EQ to match your speakers / response..

never liked any selenium drivers except d 220 TI ... rest of them dont sound "full" imo ...u get it all from d N850

1 way of picking a driver without hearing it is to look at its freq response graph ....

(...Rovin...), where can i find that ?

whats you'll view based on choosing a flare ? i found that that image dynamics falre is very nice but would does the flare make it sound different

this is in my comparision to the selenium driver the short one i don't have a pic to show as compared to the image dynamics one which can be found here

horn to unit matching is the most important physical alignment

after that,it all up to processing and x-over

you can make the 405 or the 3305 drivers sound pretty good given your system is well planned and very accuratly tuned

however , in spite of all d specs it depends of what u like when u hear each in real

each driver from each company has a flare they made especially for it ...
