Fellow "CY Crew".....I recently bought a CY2A...thanks to you guys.....
One problem I had thus far(car currently doing 1200km)......
I was coming to the end of the southbound lane, didn't see any cars converging and decided just to release my foot from the gas(car doing about 90km now)...as I gradually turned into the bend....I felt like the car wanna flip....I never felt this with any other car I drove.....I checked my tyres... pressures were 30PSI.....Is the centre of gravity too high in these cars?.......pls shed some light....(pls note I've done this with my 5series doing 120km) |

are you talking about the original off ramp which takes you up to the Tech Institute flyover (that is, a looped left hand bend)?
i will admit that when i first drove the CY, it was a bit unnerving with regard to cornering. with some driving time, i got to understand what i could and couldn't do with regard to corner entry, speed, etc.
a big factor for me was the height of the standard Yoko tyres - 60 profile. This is way too high for general spirited driving due to increased amounts of tyrewall flex under aggressive cornering. also at 30psi (assuming that is when tyres were hot), your effective pressure would have been a few psi less or 28psi.
for starters, i'd say check your pressure at cold (if possible) and ensure you've got your 30psi min. i've used 32psi just in case and even with 60 profile tyres, i was still able to push the CY somewhat (but there was still a sense of roll)
to really solve the problem, i changed out to 205/55/R16 Bridgestone ER300 Turanza tyres in Dec 2008. that minor reduction in wall height made a HUGE difference for me with regard to aggressive cornering, overall stability and body roll. i'm even considering 50 series in my next change out.
for now, you'll just have to live with it. there will be no similarity to your previous vehicle (BMW 5) which would have had lower stance, better wheel ratio and stiffer suspension to compensate. |

Actually it was the end of the highway(Retrench side)......Thanks for this valuable info buddy.....actually still got the "5"...I think I was over judging the Lancer when I compared it to the "5" ..... One of the reasons I bought the Lancer was that for a Japanese vehicle it had some Euro characteristics...except for the wiper and light controls(still Japanese). All in all, I think "we" made a good decision, I believe this is one of the best vehicles in it's class...Just worried about resale... |

oh, well then you'll be happy to kno that the CY can do that corner at 120-130kmph coasting with the tyre wall reduction however, a nice TT$1,000.00 fine now awaits us if flagged
and you're right on the feature-value considerations, we all continue to be impressed with the several creature comforts which come as standard in the fully loaded CYs.
you shouldnt be too concerned with resale - mine may be up for sale soon and i've gotten some good indicative feedback and it will probably sell faster than a BMW5 in current market
feel free to continue to share your CY experiences. |

Anybody else know of any for sale? Looking for the 1.5 MIVEC mid-spec, or fully loaded for around $125k |
