1.5 fully loaded is around TT$185K
2.0 Manual should put you back around TT$230K (note - 35hp (fly) more hp)
Incidentally - EVO 8: TT$200K - TT$230K
On a side note - SHO, did you realize that the 2.0L CY Lancer as a tower strut bar (in bonnet between shock head bolts) as standard OEM equipment? noticed it recently at the firm. i've already asked diamond if they're stocking it. |

Sho: Group buy?
have you already purchased cucso? any idea of landed price (or is the US$200 inclusive)
kdat if you're accostomed to boosted or high hp applications, you will experience an anticlimax with the CY. if not, you'll be fine.
handling, in my opinion is very very good. nice stiff set-up and the weight of the car give you comfort levels at higher speeds (read up on new R.I.S.E. system and improved suspension and chassis platform).
maintenance - avg TT$700-TT$900 per service (for me, every 10,000km)
at 26,000km, i changed brakes at TT$1000 and I think plugs may be due - another TT$1000
so adding it up:
1st service (1000km) - TT$600
2nd service (10,000km) - TT$900
3rd service (20,000km) - TT$900
4th service (26,000km - supposed to be 30,000km) - TT$2,900 (including brakes and spark plug change)
total after 16 months - TT$5,300
also bought new set of tyres - TT$2,300
K&N filter - TT$500
grand total spent to date = TT$8,100
works out annually to TT$6,000 a year or TT$500 a month (if you want to look at it that way)
for a brand new vehicle with all the bells and whistles, i am ok with that spend rate. |

ok - so just to update on the CY.
yesterday morning, i bounced starter @ 9am and Engine Check light doesnt come off. i thought - ok, too much scotch last night...switch off, restart, Check light still on. Backing out the driveway, no power. Driving off, no power - thinking, crap - Fail-safe mode...something's wrong here.
called GM @ Diamond and said hey - 29000kms, Engine check light, fail-safe mode, im coming now and require immediate attention. He alerts Service team and they are expecting me. on the way there, 2000rpm shifts, all 4 gears change by 60kmph. so confirmed fail-safe mode.
reach into DM, guy waiting with laptop and Mitsu tool, plug in for scan, error code - Throttle body/TPS sensor. they ask a bunch of questions about usage, driving habits etc. i mention that i only make short runs from Cascade to Maraval daily and occassional highway trips every month or so. but trips to and from office are generally spirited (as far as possible).
they suggested bad NP gas causing fouling of sensor, carbon deposits build up, etc....im still thinking - 29,000km...but go along with them. next step - to clean TB and sensor...i indicate i needed car back within 2 hours and would wait. at this point, i also mention installation of K&N drop in filter. mechs quickly point this out as the 'main cause of the problem'...K&N filters are only for 'turbo cars'...( ) and the dusty environment means that K&N filter is drawing in far more dirty air than normal and larger particles are flowing in/contaminating when compared to the almost airtight paper/felt filter...
im only buying that explanation on the basis that i do not drive long distances sufficiently to 'blow-out' any build up...but still skeptical.
long story short, after 30 mins, TB/sensor was cleaned, recalibrated and code removed. test driven and returned to me. as per usual, i had absolutely no issues with the service provided, however, just putting out the notice with regard to other CY K&N users...DM has suggested i swap back out the K&N and utilize the OEM, but im not inclined.
any comments/feedback? |

how can bad gas foul up a TPS. This is not even exposed to the fuel/airmixture.
Its just a variable resistor connected to the throttle body to tell the ECU by how much throttle is opened.
Kand N supposed to allow better air flow than normal filter. The oil in the filter does the cleaning / filtering so if filter is not oiled correctly it may allow contaimiants to get in , they got you on that one.
But k & n for turbo cars, what rubbish , shame on DM techs |

| The new lancer is just way too wicked. I drove a CK2 before, brand new from the firm (i miss that car!!!). Have to say I was not going for the 08 model, but after I test drove, i was sold! The 1.5 MIVEC ramps up pretty fast, maxed out at 185, have to get the firm to disable limiter, but I'm told that voids warranty! BTW, if you want to move up from the 16" stock rims, you can only go to 17", or suspension warranty is shot! Lancers Rule!!! |
