I now seeing this thread.......excellent info in here. well done folks but I have a few comments and would like your feedback.

Firstly I have driven a PBE GLXi and a PBK GLX Lancer both local cars and to me I find with every new iteration the Lancer got slower! The previous two engines being 4G92 and 4G18 both 1.6 SOHC 16V EFI motors but the CK felt the most responsive! Perhaps because its considerably lighter than the other two? I drove a new PCE 1.5 DOHC MIVEC version and to me it didn't feel as peppy as the Corolla NZE 1.5 DOHC VVT-i engine worse yet compared to the 1.6 DOHC VVT-i engine. To me the Mazda 3 is has more pep and better handling......so does this mean that the lancer lost some moves because its a much bigger car than before? For sure, the handling is much better than a Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Nissan Tiida, Chevrolet Optra, Hyundai Elantra and Kia Cerrato but I still find the Ford Focus and the Mazda 3 to have sportier handling.

Anyway, this is a very good car with alot of features for the price and to me the looks are getting better! What gets me weak is a red fully loaded version and the 2.0 GT model. Those xenon HID lamps went a step further than the local Mazda 3 simply with HID's but xenon's for other markets. I'm not liking the dash so much though but at least its better than everyone else's own in this class except the Toyota Corolla/Mazda 3/Hyundai Elantra.

do my eyes deceive me?

two days ago in Shoppes of Maraval, I could have sworn i saw a PCJ CY Lancer - Black sporting a variation to the standard rear spoiler. it was at least 3-4 inches higher and straight? i believe the Evo X comes with that spoiler.

can anyone confirm if this design is now optional/available from firm?

SHO, I am still yet to reach by W2J for that filter. want to get around to that sometime soon and see what difference there is.

on another note, im having a real hard time relating to this INVECS II tranny. being a stick shift guy for my entire mitsu experience, i just want to make sure this CY tranny is behaving as it should...

i tend to engage 3rd gear a bit sometimes when either driving downhill/cornering at a spirited pace and sometimes for over-taking situation when to lazy to punch the gas pedal (of course, well within rpm shift range).

i've noticed tho that in 'D' -Drive, the tranny seems to now predict my response and holds 3rd gear a tad longer than usual when im cornering or driving relatively quickly. so lets say you make a q/park savannah, make a left by queen's hall and briskly enter cascade on your right (no stopping) - if at any point i come off the gas in the transition, it holds 3rd gear for me, allowing me to still be in acceleration mode to continue driving. this doesnt happen at first startup (morning time or after work). I also find the engine's responsiveness is better for the first 5-10 mins of startup. After that, take off acceleration is a bit sluggish.

it also appears that the engine/tranny senses when you are going uphill and will not upshift to a higher gear until the car has levelled off (i guess by measuring load, etc.). This seems to be a normal feature as per Owner's Manual.

im just curious tho, any other CY owners (or Mitsu owners by ext.) have comments on this tranny type. the last tranny mitsu i drove was a CB3 1.3 carb type cable based. when a gear was holding, it meant tranny going soon!

no other issues at all with tranny - at WOT, gear shifts 1,2,3 & 4 are all seamless and well-timed. vehicle is just under 1 year old and 20K kilos on the dash!

appreciate any feedback.

Confused (really hating trannies!)

yeah the tras does learn the way you drive and will down shift for you going down hill i once drove back from maracus and only applied the brakes 7 or 8 times the trannie is fun man... try this for the next few days when accelerating shift with the accelerator pedal... just listen to the engine and just as you would breifly come of the gas to change gear and then get back on the gas do thatthe gear will change and it will be like a whole new car...... Mitsu_Exec, i got the INVECS-III tranny and its really fun when u get accustomed

i always admire whenever i head south through the plains while keeping a constant level on acc pedal the rpms actually build and drop for itself going uphill and downhill with no human intervention.

and yes the tranny learn ur habits its been like that for awhile though Smile

fyi...if u willing or should the moment arise, try running through some water at a considerable speed (by VMCOTT), tranny would actually gear down on its own

no, not an Evo X. i know my lancers pretty well.
vehicle came with standard 16" alloys (factory) and otherwise identical to the CY chassis (side strips, standard flair kit, no intercooler port, etc).

im always keen to look out for CYs and see what folks are doing with them. this one stood out like a sore thumb!
