he is my mechanic and well ive come to expect his prices by now...
i could give u his no. if yuh wanna call him |
I dont mind payin a high cost once I get high quality work the proper way and as close to the books as possibile......gimme an example of a high cost..... |
i tryin to find some receipts buh i cah find anythin these days.. i remember a while back to take apart the entire engine and change all d seals, clean everythin, clean/replace tappits and put everythin back together was bout 2 grand.
but there was odda stuff involved in that stay as well... suspension, brakes etc. |

yuh don't have to tell me bout water getting into all kinda places, I drive thru teh sea with teh L200 already, I know what yuh mean
I wash teh 4G18 regularly
never had a problem
your alternator and starter suppose to have spaces in them to allow water to drain out in teh advent that it gets wet
| turbo_beast369 wrote: | | venum on average how much it cost from Robert Chan to change yuh cam and crankshaft seals on yuh 4G18....labour alone eh....federal quoted me $800 for the job of changing the cam seal only.....thas with d OEM camshaft seal the labour and other "parts" when I asked him what other "parts" he couldnt answer......so since I done scraping the side cover assembly I go change d crankshaft seal and done one time... |
can't say what his prices are, I did this a while ago
change cam and crank together, labour is more than the OEM parts
u don't need other parts, just teh 2 seals |
what you use to wash ur 4G18 and what method u use....
I know is only the 2 seals I go need but he said "other parts" thas all...but I find $800 rel steep jus for one seal change...i know its a few hours work but still that 2 much....look original_lollybob pay bout 2 grand for engine and suspension job...thas wayyy more work than to just change a cam seal.....the cam seal is bout $90 and well the crank should be around $150 so.... |

| I was checkin out some sites and I saw some ppl installed the 4G69 Mivec 2.4 that came in the 04' - 06' USDM Ralliart Lancers. This swap is a bolt for bolt swap from the 4G18...but it's costly to get everything working as you need a good bit of parts...but not as costly as buying an EVO lol....if i had d money I would have done it...maybe someday when I get rich.... |

YES no biggie
did it several times ob both CS3
I would be more afraid of washing a GDI
dunno how ronsin1 backwards so, must be liming with idlemind too much
teh method that teh service station that I go to uses as follows:
let engine cool
spray down engine with degreaser mixture (kerosene, soap, etc)
spray down with water
use compressed air to blow out water
start engine and let idle
drive car for a while after
however the best washes i used to get (place closed down now), procedure
let engine cool
spray with special degreaser only (no kerosene, soap etc)
start car
spray down with water
use compressed air to blow out water
that special degreaser was teh best, u could have eaten off it after |

thanks venum i have a GDI so i guess that means no engine wash for me but now that you mention it I never saw how the station does the engine wash.
So idlemind, you mind tellin us how you do your "engine wash"?
OH i also tried the Ds thing you was tellin us to do and it was fun car hit 120 in about 6 seconds, but i realise that as soon as i shift into DS the GDI light went off so it burn some more of my expensive premium gas, but for the spped it worth it. |

i jus spray down the MC with WD40, wipe off and spray down again |
thats how^
yeah man after awhile the thrill beats the pocket anyday
glad u had fun, jus be careful.
fellas Ds also assists with braking too
esp when u doing speeds u not supposed to be doing
jus remember to slow down first and not jus slap it into Ds |

Hear what....I heard is mostly kerosene and breeze they does use which is a boss mix...yuh could even throw a lil diesel in it....but then yuh engine go smell diesely....
let soak a lil bit then spray down with a low psi pressure washer.....
mix back some breeze alone and spray and let soak and wash again to get out d oilyness and smell from d kerosene....
take meh air compressor at work and spray at about 80-90 psi every dam drop ah water possible especially by d starter and alternator....
pull out all d electrical clips that I could visually see with my eye...spray with WD40 clip it back then douse down d whole engine with d rest of d can like a mad man...an 11 oz should do it jus right lol....
only that way I go feel safe.....i eh lettin no service station man touch my engine....to me dem fellaz does do a halfway wuk becuz thas not their engine....
who say 4G69 Mivec in their CS Lancers!!!!! I know a fella who brought down a USDM V6 engine for his Shark Mouth Galant.....i'm sure he could source it along with parts... |

i dont know anything about my GDI so i ent even going and spray anything like mad. idlemind, where you located yuh might have to give me a tutorial
so another question *chuckles*,
so ill have to do an oil change in about 6 weeks but right now i have the normal castrol oil with the k&n filter. I want to know if i could switch to full syntethic without changing the filter because the filter would of been in use for only 5000km. |
