that
I
need to
turn this car
SIDEWAYS to fill the MT F
anyone know how to re-fill a B16A manual transmission without the use of a crane? some kind of pump I could use?

yes, turn it sideways and leave it there...
Is it suppose to be filled all the way up in this case? Get the FSm and make sure you put in the correct amount of quarts. Else remove the gear shifter? |

make something up. get a hose the diameter of a bottle mouth
Cut the bottom of the bottle out and turn it upside down.
Attach the hose to the mouth of the bottle somehow, tape or something
stick the hose in that hole and hold the bottle upright.
Pour fluid in until it starts to flow out of the same hole. |

Great suggestions............. except for one weeeely wikkle problem
the fill nut is facing the inner lug for the right front cradle, above the axle and neatly tucked under the bell housing.
I suspect that the 1.9 us quarts required would have to be pumped into the hole becasue it would be difficult to fill it with a hose to there that runs up to the inside the engine bay. Dunno if the pros fill it from the speed sensor hole. it would totally be easier to do it that way though..
frick.... |

Right
Surprises of surprises.
The Y21 gearboxs' speed sensor shaft is built onto the housing so the only thing that can come off is the sending unit... No filling thru this option.
BUUUUUUUUUTTTT!!!!! It seems easier to get to the fill port from above (why didn't I think of this first???)
A little help from Diana (the name I gave to my new breaker bar....if anyone can figure out why I called it Diana, they have wayyy too much time on their hands, just about, if not a little more, than I do.), 1.9 US Quarts of fluid and a plastic bag and oil get changed.
So peeps
Thanks fer all your help, I hope you all learned a lil sumthn from my experience, if you did, then hurray for Zoidberg, if not, then... as my g/f says..."YOU NEED TO CHILL!!"
Peace out homies!!!! |

Yes the speed sensor can be removed. It is in two parts, the sending unit and the gear part. There is a ten bold on the box intelf that takes out everything and can be refilled this way very very easily. Done it myself. |
