i dragrace an auto car in autosport and whoever else has competition
i launch at 2400rpm brake stalling the car over and over and over and the gic and fbl are the only pads that doesn't fade preventing me from holding a stall like that and that was even b4 the slotted rotors
i would love to see a brake pad under $125 doing that
honestly up to a certain extent i don't care about price, i need my car to stop, exec feels the same here too
but hell, for that price and what we getting, yuh cyar go wrong Mr. Green

mitsu let me reiterate here a bit and see if I could explain and get u out of disk brake kindergarden b4 christmas.

Your original contention was when I refered to the GIC pads as semi-metallic and u said it was premium metallic. Semi Metallic is a classification of brake pad material, Premium Metallic is not a classification. These two descriptions are not mutually exclusive, the pads can be Premium Semi-Metallic, now u have climbed onto a rotted limb trying to hang me with a rope called Fully-Metallic.

Premium is a quality rating as such it can be applied to any product or service, I used quality in that sentence about TSTT so that u could see the word used in context.

I never compared auto parts to anything else. If u are comparing u have to compare apples with apples of course. If I had to compare disk pads I would have to compare them on same car, approx same weight, same rotor and caliper set up, same rear disk setup, same brake system in same condition and same tyres. Then we could change disk pads and compare brake performance.

The only true way to do this of course is to have 2 sets (or same number as number of disk pads to be compared) of rotors, each set properly bedded in for the specific pad type, then swap rotors and pads onto the same car and perform tests, under same operating conditions like temperature, humidity and road condition. I not comparing however u can do it if u have the time.

Ok now:

First take note the heading of this sub forum: Tech Stuff

Your technical analysis of the pad: "my personal investigation...along with another tuner, was that these pads are fully metallic. if AT ALL semi...i'd still go with a 75/25 ratio based on the chunks of metal and so on noticed on the pad, the limited dust and the finish properties of the pad when well worn."

So u and another tuner were born with mass spectrometers instead of eyes. This must be very helpful. You still remain unsure however as to the ratio of metal (spectrometer needs calibrating) and have shot yourself in the foot with 75/25. How is 75/25 Fully Metallic?

Some facts for u to contemplate:

1)Fully Metallic pads cannot be used for daily driving.

2)Fully Metallic pads have to be brought to operating temperature by making several severe stops to 'warm up' the pad and rotor before the pad will begin to work as designed.

3)Fully Metallic pads will eat your stock rotors very quickly and therefore cannot be used with stock rotors.

So if u eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable must be the truth.

GIC pads from FT are classified as semi-metallic pads. Specifically carbon-metallic.

Just because it says premium on the box doesn't mean anything.

I was disputing the classification of brake pad material. Premium is not a classification.

^ also just means ox, and if u wanted to use it with that other meaning u have unfortunately used it in the wrong context, I wouldn't expect u to understand that though at your education level.

One sentence with 20 words and you called it a lecture, I guess if I was still in kindergarden 20 words may appear that way, this is probably why u have not understood my previous posts and have failed to learn anything from all that good information.

I made my point a long time ago, u on the other hand have resorted to name calling and cursing, because u can't produce a single fact to back up your statements, that is ok though, understandable behaviour for a kindergarden kid. I cannot stoop to that level though and must continue to treat u kindly. Poor kid, probably been abused.

bumping this thread...

whem im cutting the lil groove in the center...is it safe to use an angle grinder?..
and wont a hacksaw cut too small of a groove?..or can i cut multiple grooves with the hack saw?
and does it have to be a straight line down the center?..or can i cut diagonally or even at an angle..

would the heat generated from cutting damage the pad in any way?..in the sense that its still new and not broken in yet?
