i don't agree with you -- the e36 platform came with twin cam vanos M series 3.2 motor that put ot 240 hp ..a stock rb would be fine -- |
Sorry mate but thats the USDM not in Europe. S52 3.2 "M" motor outputs 321bhp. And the E36 M3 cars have bigger brakes than STD 316/318 or 318is, and suspension to match (different dampering and lower).
The solution to this problem is not to go backwards and install a Nissan motor as the car will never a BMW again. Get someone with "carsoft" and perform a diagnostic scan. Once all emission related faults are not "present" or "Intermittant" reset ECM then proceed to investiagte a mechanical fault. You may find have a problem with burnt out O2 sensors ( to be replaced at 30K mile intervals) or a dirty MAF ( which will prompt a "bank 1 lean" fault, which sometimes plages these cars |

| If you do change the engine, I have a 2door manual to yours, I'll be interested in buying the old engine to keep for parts for mine...( 351-7147) can't recommend anyone ... so far I have had no troubles at all........ My solution has always been " The harder you drive it, the better it works!" Good Luck! |

| Hey Blueice did you figure out what was wrong with the Bimmer. I'm just curiuos, were you using leaded fuel, if so your O2 sensor is probably bad and there fore your cat is probably clogged also. If you were worrying about all the money you've spent trying to get the car to run right just try doing that swap and see how much more money you'll be spending...... |
