Are UPS batteries allowed in rookie and stock class?

I quote ::batteries must be a standard 12 volt battery, but then its said that the battery can be upgraded once it fits the stock position with out modification...

I think a higher authority may have to answer that question.

I dont see the problem though, Ups batteries have been used in Street Classes for Db drag.

pg 12 idbl section 2009 rules

Rookie
battery must be a standard automotive 12 volt battery
battery may be upgraded but must fit in factory oem battery location

the cu inch rule is applied to stock

see pg 15

a ups battery is not a standard automotive battery and will not be allowed in rookie

1200cu inch is the max volume for the battery in rookie and one must fit in the OEM battery location with NO modifications

batteries must be commercailly available thru standard retail channels
ie it must be available for ANYONE to purchase and not a "special" order or made

IMO, UPS batteries arent allowed in rookie, but they should be allowed in any other class, since the rule book only specified "automotive" for the rookie class. I saw a few vehicles in stock and advanced using these batteries at SBN
