|
|
Hello all,
First post here, but a 20 year Nissan mechanic and racer here in the US. I am hoping someone here can help me purchase a pair of B12 Sunny Twin Cam Super Saloon trunk badges like these:
 | | Click for full-size. |
Obviously, they aren't available here in the US. I'd be happy to buy them, but just as happy to swap some US issue Nissan parts as well.
Did Trinidad get a version of the B13 Sentra SE-R like we have here?
 | | Click for full-size. |
If they weren't called SE-R's, what were they called? Yes, we have a very unique form of racing here. We race on frozen lakes with studded tires in the winter here. Our B13 SE-R's were not turbocharged. They had the SR20DE in them. |

Thanks for the reply. Wow those are neat. Now I'd like to add a pair of Sunny GTS trunk bagdes to my order too.
Can you recommend a Nissan dealer in your country that I can contact to order these badges? |

I have a friend who is the parts department manager at my local Nissan dealer. Unlike a lot of lazy parts countermen who aren't willing to take the time to search thoroughly and will simply tell you "NLA' [no longer available], he doesn't mind taking the extra time and searching out every possibility of finding older Nissan parts. I can still get a lot of things for my '77 B210, right from Nissan USA.

btw welcome to the site | Thank you. cacasplat No, I'm in the US, but I love the Nissan models your country had available! Here's a look at my B12 4WD wagon.

OK, here's where you will all think I am nuts. I also race the car on frozen lakes with an ice racing club. We have a very strict no-contact rule and are very careful not to touch. I've been quite lucky so far and have raced the car for three seasons, have not incurred a scratch [knock on wood!], and have won two class championships with it!

Note: I removed the original GA16i engine and swapped in a GA16DE.

alluh mad
but it look like more fun than just pulling the ordinary handbrakes
about the badges. the cars that have them, werent sold new. they all came in via the foreign used market. so the nissan dealer here wont have them, if they do have them, it would be the cost of a new house or sumthing
yur car looks really well kept, not much around here looking like that, plus the swap looks really clean.
u should get an upper strut tower bar to compliment the engine bay |

is this the GA16 with the VTEC?.....Saw a few B13s with these engines down here.... my partner has 1 of these in a B11 sunny and he turboed it, using a CA18 turbo and extra injectors....runs great on top end...... blownb310, if u turbo this engine, and install a cold air intake, with the cold air weather u have up there, the car will reelll peform. |

Yes, I knew what Dragsta meant. The GA16DE has variable intake cam timing. The SR20VE mentioned does have Nissan's version of Vtec. I am considering swapping one into my black '93 B13 SE-R. I have to race turbo Saabs in my ice racing class and will need the extra 30 h.p. this winter.
Back on topic, I almost forgot to ask: Which foreign markets were your imported Super Saloons and GTS's from? |

they would have been japan, like most other foreign used vehicles here.
but its only recently cars started coming in from Singapore.
just a quick question seeing that u live in a temperate climate. what is the performance difference in yur car, when comparing winter to summer?
(hot ambient air vs. cold air) |

(hot ambient air vs. cold air) | Thanks for the reply. That's an interesting question, and I can tell you that there's a big difference. I have drag raced for 20 years and the elapsed times and speeds are always the best in the late fall, when temps are down around 30 to 40 degrees F. Colder air makes even more power, but if it's too cold, the track surface loses most of it's traction. Conversely, the worst time to race is in hot humid summer days with temps in the upper 90's and humidity above 90%! The difference is [depending on the car of course] usually about 3 tenths of a second and up to 4 mph in the 1/4 mile.
I can notice the difference in my little 4WD B12 wagon. It's GA16DE actually somewhat fast in the winter! |
