Ay fellas yall got some nice rides here
Haven't posted for a while, it's been a couple years oui!
I have a swift that's been boosted about 5 years now, here's some specs off the top of my head:
8.5 CR pistons with .030" overbore (slightly increased capacity )
Cast exhaust manifold
Garrett T25bb wc turbo
SR20DET downpipe
2.25" exhaust tubing
Full mandrel bent intake plumbing
Sparco hoses all round
TurboXS type-S BOV (cant remember exactly)
Link Engine management
Haltec A/F ratio meter
Ignition stock, but advanced to 15 degrees BTDC (stock is 7)
I'm only running 8psi, I dont see the sense in using more, traction problems and drivetrain longevity are a factor for me.. But dont get me wrong, this thing pulls!
Here's a teaser pic.. more to come later

Nice manifold man! Looks like it flows really well, good job! Mine is shorter and cast iron, but it positions the turbo so we can keep the AC, thank God!
Yup that's my dad, Chris is his name. He drives the white swift, it's not a true cultus, but the cultus cams, intake manifold and exhaust manifold were installed. He also installed the 60mm throttle body. It runs pretty good for a N/A swift.
You could say we're a GTi family, lol! We own 3 swifts: 2 white non-turbos, and the red turbo one. We do all the work on them ourselves. And we even do work on other swifts for people who can't get the quality work done elsewhere!
I don't drive the red one as much these days since I bought another vehicle (corolla, don't laugh!) I wanted a more comfortable ride for all the traffic these days, can't blame a guy for that!
My dad drives the turbo one more than me these days, but I still consider it mine, lol! We've done alot of work between us tweeking and perfecting everything in that car, sort of a labour of love
Here's some more pics

sweet!! turbo and A/C the best combination in a gti......im getting another ride for comfort, so i said "to hell with A/C!" i regretting it now though lol
i got the lowdown from garth, he told me about your dad and the swifts. spoke very highly of your family's knowledge and technical skills with the gti's. very highly! should make a pass by garth and put it on the dyno, see if the kit gives you the actual 200 hp
thats the AVO kit right? those kits put the intake behind the battery....i have my hands on that very same kind of manifold as well, and you forgot bout all the whitline suspension parts! lol!
labour of love is right!! no better words to describe it....im sure right now your pics driving man crazy to turbo charge their cars!! |

^^Electrical Contact cleaner. DIfferent brands have different names, easily found in a hardware/electrical shop.
But it doesn't sound like that's the problem. |

Basically your general view on it.. fuel consumption.. handling..everyday usage. If i get one it's gonna be a run around car.. town and back runs every morning etc Boy i thinkin of selling my P11 aswell basically maintainence and you can't beat a brand new car with a glorious warranty |

Warranty my foot. A new car is a new car yes. Any dealer from N&M going right back will try to skimp on cost when they're servicing your car.
Well mih SS is the daily driver (5mt...can't comment on the auto version)...........
Fuel consumption....don't expect anything great, but it will be better than the P11. Now, the SS runs a very short ratio box IMHO, so 120 km/h is like almost 4000 rpm......160 takes you above 5 k rpm. And gears are also close ratio.......
So compared to a regular swift, it has decreased mileage (as the regular car I imagine has taller final ratios), but the M16A engine pulls the strongest anywhere north of 4500 km.....so that means on 5th gear, you can overtake easily w/o gearing down.
I still manage 30 mpg traffic/hway driving (it comes with a gas mileage meter).
Handling is superb for a stock car. It certainly has better turn-in than the WRX (when it was on stock suspension anyway), but the fact that it has such a short wheelbase has alot to do with it IMO. The sport maxx tyres are also great.
In terms of how the suspension is setup, it's very similar to the Tiida/Corolla (e.g. the front sway bar on the SS and the Tiida have almost identical "tie" points on the front struts). Rear suspension is almost identical to the other two cars as well. The SS rides stiffer than most other new cars IMHO as well (slightly stiffer spring rates, and different struts I imagine).
The engine is an 11:1 compression ratio (well at least thats how it is with the SS - can't say for other 1.6 'zukis) with shot peened rods and oil squirters (beneath the pistons??). But despite all that tech., the high comp ratio means you gotta use premium. |

Yea i must admit the warranty isn't all that great and they are very strict on thier policies in terms of mods you can do to you vehicle btw How is it in traffic? all in all seems like a fun car to drive but would u recommend it? I use premium in my p11 anyways wouldn't make much of a difference to me. |
