|
|
Hey Euro tuners this morning while on my way to work i felt like for a split second my car dip in power then everything was back to normal. later in the morning i attempted to start the car to run an errand and it wont start on the first tumble as it always do, it eventually started on the 3rd tumble but i had to assist by pressing the accelerator pedal however the EPC light stayed on.
i did some online research on AUDI forums and seems to be a Air flow Meter sensor fault.
Has anybody ever encountered with their AUDI 1.8T engine? |

| best bet would be to check your MAF sensor readings as it may be failing to give the correct values. Do you have a VAG-COM? the only way to really know without having to replace the MAF (which may or may not be the problem) is to c what fault codes are coming up. |

VAG-COM its a diagnostic tool to scan for faults, log data etc. I got one but unfortunately i'm out of the country right now, otherwise i woulda help u out.
What is your engine code? There's a lil trick to see if you have a faulty MAF without scanning (provided u have a MAP sensor, thats why i asked what engine code) is to unplug it. If it runs fine after, then u got a faulty MAF, if it still runs like sheit then something else is wrong. Maybe an O2 sensor, water temperature sensor or bad coils, and the list goes on . Or it could be a combination of these things in which case the lil trick above may not work |

in this case Most of the time Diagnostics do not give correct fault codes. reason is you will run the diagnostics while the engine is idling. but remember you get the problem only while you driving and that also within a certain speed speed range( Loss of power for few seconds and then it will kick back in, during those few seconds no matter u do that wont make any difference.)
please let us know the results of VAGCOM and please do not start changing parts like mad because cuz wat problem u have is very tricky to diagnose.
i will suggest to start with checking ur plugs and buy a good MAF Cleaner spary and try to clean up ur mAF and throttlr body then we go to next step. |

Couldnt' be more far from the truth, vag-com is a very versatile tool. When accessing your fault codes there is no need to turn the car on as it reads the fault codes which have been logged from the various control modules.
In addition to reading, you can also log and graph data while driving then analyze it later. From that data you can gain an estimate of your current hp, timing charts, boost pressure, temperature and the lsit goes on.
As for the crank position sensor it really isn't that expensive, its around $50US so probably times that by ten and that may be what u pay for it in Trini. |

5onDfloor did you check teh wiring and connector for the CPS??
good luck with CPS and after replacing it take a long drive to make sure it fixed. sometimes the fault what u have goes away for sometime after changing a part and comes back.
i am not tryng to be negative, just trying to tell my experience with BMW, Audi and Lexus same fault
Good Luck |
