I have a problem with the armrest cracking on both doors of my EK3 hatch - at the back where the elbow usually rests.

besides buying the door upholstery which would probably dry rot and crack again, what other options do i have to repair this?

on the driver side it's broken, but luckily the fabric hasn't ripped (yet). on the passenger side, there's a small crack which will get worse..

anyone had this experience before? it seems like something which would be common..

anybody know if they sell the door upholstery separate from the doors?
can an upholsterer fix this problem?

can be fixed without removing upholstery
plastice is broken on the inside and once all the pieces are there it can be reinforced with epoxy and fibreglass on the inside

^^gotcha

redsupra101, did the fibreglass work hold?

I was thinking to fill up the hollow with some kinda hard foam by an upholsterer and then piece the armrest back together and reinforce with epoxy and fibreglass (on the outside though). That way the armrest has support.

what allya think? i need all that or the foam is a waste of cash?
