9886
But if you putting out $2000 for the deck why not hold out a bit and save a $700-800 more and get a 9887? IMO that is the better plan, but I just saying.. |

Off the top of my head I can say the 9887 you don't HAVE to use the imprint kit to do the time alignment, eq, and crossover also display differences (how many lines?), burr brown DAC.
9886 lacks these afaik. |

the 9886 has usb but you have to buy the processor seperate to get the eq and other features whereas the 9887 cannot play from usb (can play from ipod) but has all the features the processor offers for the 9886 built into the unit.
i am also trying to decide on one of the 2 because i also want the usb function.... |

Also due to the lack of USB on the 9887, u get the X-over, Time Alignment etc, but still CANNOT use the Imprint Auto EQ feature without buying another module.
for a daily system with USB + iPOD, the 9886 is better.
if u are looking for better sound tweaking, time alignment, 9887. |

^^^ Had some bad experiences with Clarion, Great stuff but the cd drive fails after about 2 yrs on 2 occasions.
I would go with the Alpine 9886 ! |

Hell no, you cant compare them to each other, one is a dedicated piece, the other is a receiver with basic bands for EQ built in. |

| I recently purchased a 9886, not a bad unit @ all, however the processing on it is very limited without the Imprint unit. |

Sorry to hear that dev
But...............we now have authorized dealership for the line and upkeep all warranty and guarantee issues........as a matter of fact we do the same for anything we sell
So if you still have the unit and want to repair it,i'll see if i could source the parts depending on the age of the unit, at no cost to you.
Between the alpine and pioneer........alpine 9887, it's like the 9886 with the imprint but without usb............
Or you can have the Clarion DXZ 785 usb with parametric eq,3 way xover, time alignment, hi volt out, ability to run 3-way active, usb and ipod etc, etc, also the display can be adjusted to 128 different colour combinations to suit the car's interior.
and Rovin is authorized by us for all Clarion products he sells on tuner |
