city = small economy car
sonata = large family car

cars are not in the same class..

if economy is an issue and you like small nice handling highly reliable cars, go with the City...

i'm not much of a Hyundai fan, so i can't say much on parts / reliability..

Have a friend with the sonata, seems to have no probs, it's a gas guzzler but thats what you get with a bid engine, the city is a lot more economical, but i know for a fact that the sonata engine is based on mitsubishi engineering, so should be reliable.

take a ride in both and decide from there.. i know tht the Honda Fit is VERY spacious inside for such a small vehicle.. maybe the City has the same design..

take a read..

That was a long time ago when Mitsu supplied engines for Hyundai.....now Hyundai engines are 100% designed by the company, in fact a version of their Theta engine is now being used by Mitsubishi....things have come full circle. The Sonata will also feature the new Theta II engine...it does feature some impressive technology

Didn't know that, good info, imagine mitsu using Hyundai tech, damn blasphemy, but not surprising, knowing these companies collaborate in a lot of projects, didn't they help design the 4b11 as a world engine, i think they also wanted to utilise mitsu 4wd tech in the tiburon?
But as 3stagevtec, said drive both cars and see what appeals to you, don't buy it cause someone on 2nr thinks one is better, cars are like women you know they can be a pain and have some aesthetic flaws but something appeals to you so you stick with it.

well said dude, buy a car because u like it, not because of what someone else thinks.
I have a hyundai sonata 2k5 model, when i was gonna buy it errybody was like u gonna buy a hyundai???
but i was in love with the design an interior of this vehicle even though i was never really a big hyundai fan.
Up to this day my car has given me no major problems an has stood thru the past 3 years while my other friends who opted to buy other more popular cars have been knee deep in repairs. I travel to work from arima to pos everyday so a full tank of gas probably only lasts me abt 4- 5 days considering the amt of spins i make. But i never regretted gettin my Hyundai. Cant really say much for the City though. A name is jus a name and sometimes the meaning of a name changes 180 degrees.

moral is once again buy what YOUU LIKE..

When buying a car you should also look at what kind of resale value
