Thermo. is a new one from toyota...i will take out the vvt solenoild an change the o'ring one time since im gonna tamper with it...the high idle started after i cleaned the intake about a week ago....also the car has quieted down quite considerably after the recent oil change...(tappits not as noisey)...

How would i know if the vvt is stuck onn?....ive heard that u usually hear the hissing noise for about a sec. on start up because the vvt activates for that brief moment...

sounds like a vacuum leak...check to ensure that all hoses are in the correct place and that none are cracked/loose/leaky
but it's supposed to idle around 1000rpm when it's really cold (like at start-up early in the morning)
and it wouldn't hurt to clean the ISCV like Zeriam said

this is not normal....it's supposed to have two 10bolts on it..two #5 allen screws can work as well

the only way to know if your oil control valve is stuck is to remove it and apply 12volts to the terminals and check for movement

the blots are holding the vvt solenoid in place...im able to turn the unit its self with my hand, not the bracket..i checked it according to the engine manual and it seems good(resistance was to spec. and the solenoid is moving when 12v is applied)....i checked all the vacume lines..they good...im gonna tackel the isc valve this weekend. it tends to only idel higher at night though...sumtimes it will idel normal (@800-850rpm) but once i rev it only drops bk down to 1000rpm...

oh shux!!!..ah wonder if it could be the thermo o'ring?...i now remember i didnt change that....

could be both the ISCV and the throttles sticking...it wouldn't burt to spray the throttle close springs one time and spray some lithium grease to lube 'em

about the OCV moving, it's prolly just to tighten it down properly, but even if it's a bit loose, once the o-ring sealing properly, u won't leak any oil through it
