|
|
I've noticed, when I drive with the a/c, headlights and foglights on, my temperature gauge rises into the red. If I switch off the a/c or foglamps, it'll drop back to normal.
Hoping it wasn't electrical, I've ALREADY done the following, flushed coolant, changed ECTS and thermostat.
No help... well, as far as this problem is concerned. I've deduced that it must be a grounding problem of some sort.. my question is... Wha de hell to do?
Dealership will rape me.. with $$.
If I can't solve it, only as a last resort will I go to the dealer. |

So this problem occur at the night? assuming that is why you are driving with headlights and foglights. You have already did all the basic steps that i could think about i.e. radiator flush and thermostat changed.
Did you check to see if both the AC and Engine fans are spinning properly or if the relays are becoming weak "losing contact"
If you think that it is a grounding problem install a grounding kit on the engine. That is a easy and cheap mod.
You trying doing a diagnostics to see if error?
other than that it beats me

Checked, they are fine. The gauge is wrong as engine temp remains normal when gauge is in the red.

No codes, and no codes pending.

I hope this works.. I also had the battery checked, good battery and it's charging at a steady 14+ volts.

If that does not work, I'm going to install an aftermarket Water temp gauge, but instead of using the orig sender/sensor (where the problem lies) I'm going to use this http://www.autometer.com/cat_accessorieslist.aspx?pid=15 and install it in the upper readiator hose, so I'll get the correct reading... whereas if I used the orig sender, I'll have 2 gauges giving wrong readings.
The only downside, is that I'll have a Sonata with gauges... I''ll also install a Oil Temp gauge.. so the Water gauge won't feel lonely |
